The Greenville, SC Show is Still On Today 2/13/2010
Hey All,

The Winter Jam show in Greenville, SC is still on for today. It was a close call - the buses and trucks hit some major traffic en route to Greenville from Mobile, AL but the path opened up just in time to make the load in.

We could use your prayers this afternoon for the crew as they will have roughly 4 hours to set up all of the sound and light equipment when they normally have 8 hours.

See you all there tonight at the Bi-Lo Center!

Sarah

Tidbits from WJ10 so far... 1/26/2010
Hey all,

I've been keeping up with a few tidbits from the tour so far and wanted to share some random thoughts.  We hope this will give you a little insight to the world of Winter Jam 2010 from the road...
  • The crowds this year are amazing.  We've had more people than ever before and it seems to keep growing.  Here's the numbers from this past weekend: St. Charles - 9,090, Champaign - 9,552, Des Moines - 8,210. Total - 26,852
  • Keep an eye on Facebook and Twitter, you never know when we'll hide tickets outside or give away a t-shirt in the middle of the concert!
  • Bobby Joiner REALLY liked The Book Of Eli... a lot.
  • When you come to Winter Jam, make sure you have a single penny.  Trust me.
  • Michael Tait has found his groove as the lead singer of Newsboys.
  • Speaking of the Newsboys, check out their new music video for Born Again.
  • Our friends at HearItFirst.com have helped us give away a free 8 song sampler. Don't forget to pick that up.
  • Tony Nolan is still scared of TobyMac after the basketball ankle-breaking incident last year.
  • Mac and Mark from Third Day are true hymn-lovers.  They did a great job leading the worship with hymns in Jam Church on Sunday.
  • There was a giant at the St. Charles show. Proof
Check back later for more random thoughts and events from the road.  We're hopefully going to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland this weekend, so there should be some pictures from that trip.  We hope to see you at a WJ Event in your city!

Duluth, GA 1/19/2010
We've received several comments and emails regarding the sell-out event in Duluth, GA this past weekend.  Hopefully, this post will help address some of those concerns.

We are always saddened to have to turn away even one person who is hoping to see the show and share in the fellowship.

The goal for the Tour is to make the show available to as many people as possible by keeping the price as low as possible. One of the main ways that we do this is by not pre-selling General Admission tickets - saving the cost of printing tickets, box office fees, additional on site personnel, etc.

We also attempt to get the largest venue in the area within our tour budget. In 2009, we had 8,379 people attend the Winter Jam show at the Gwinnett Center so we felt like we still had room to grow in the 12,000 seat arena. We definitely did not project that 6,000 additional folks would turn out for the 2010 show.

We also put the door price at $10 to allow families and large groups to attend and then take an offering to help cover expenses and to help build the finances to put the tour on the following year. I know that a $10-$20 increase per ticket sounds like the easiest way to cover the expenses when you are talking about paying admission for 1 or 2 people but we also understand the fact that a large family or group would struggle to come up with the additional funds to go from $10/person to $30/person.

We totally understand that it is frustrating to stand in line for any length of time and then not be able to get in, so please know that we do not take any pleasure in having people leave disappointed.

We would greatly appreciate your prayers as we make every effort to structure these events with the Kingdom in mind knowing that in our human nature we will fail without God’s guidance and grace.
