Starting out primarily as a worship team, Dust N Ashes has evolved into a band that mixes Christian alternative rock with a progressive rock theme. Playing at colleges, schools, and churches, they have been committed to spreading the Word of God to all ages through recognizing our relationship with God due to the real circumstances we are faced with in life. Attempting to reach not only to those who know salvation, with a message of power, Dust N Ashes has a desire to reach out to saved and unsaved alike, to bring not only power, but also hope, to a world that has sold out to lies that promise benefit yet bring pain. So through pain, Dust N Ashes brings real experiences through lyrics and music to approach Jesus through the eyes of a world depraved of the experience of grace.
Lyrically led by Brandon Fox, with the help of Matt Green, Dust N Ashes proves to continue to grow lyrically, writing in a way that audiences can understand the experience of the words and apply it meaningfully to their lives. Based on truth, the lyrics hope to bring power and awakening to lives that are dry and dying.
Musically, Dust N Ashes has grown from â?olearning songsâ? to creating music designed to be creative and original. Marcus Johnson, with a big vision for song structure and dynamics, has led the band to greater heights with new and unique ideas. Jason Blanton brings a rock solid foundation to the band with many years under his belt on percussion, and Matt Green, along with lyrics, contributes musically with band experience and maturity. The newest addition to Dust N Ashes has been Jerry Gates, who brings a new and fresh sound, with plenty of talent to pass around. From re-working old songs to writing new ones, they are committed to rise above even their own preferences to bring new music to the table.
Finally, the members of Dust N Ashes are more than committed to the band, they are committed to God and the call He has upon not only the band, but also themselves. Each individually have claimed Christ as their Savior and exemplify a walk with God and trust upon His grace for their lives. Although the band is made of mere men, they hope to shine light upon an amazing God.
