After playing and touring with "Thieves on the Right," an indie Christian rock group, Blake Goss began to question his musical direction.
"We were playing at a high school sharing our hearts, which is the truth of Jesus, and girls in the front were screaming at us. They were so distracted by us and our image that it was obscuring our message."
This set Blake on his journey to produce Love Has Spoken, his first solo album that is the culmination of his transition into worship music.
Blake believes that his calling is to pursue a musical direction that places a square focus on the whole rather than the individual that is best exhibited in the corporate nature of worship music.
Blake's worship music represents a return to his roots. His musical desire started in his own personal devotion time, listening to worship music in his room and singing along.
"Music offers you a prayer in response—even if you don't know what to say it gives you a voice," says Goss. "God called me back to music as a form of prayer, of a deeper connection. When I write worship songs, I am imagining a sea of people singing that song. Worship has to be a participatory event. I'm thinking of other people, and what they are going through."
Blake is now pursuing a solo career with a goal of making his music reach people beyond the walls of Freedom Church in Acworth Georgia where he is the lead worship pastor.
