worshiptogether.com was launched in 1998 at a critical juncture in contemporary church history – when the baton of faith was being passed on to an emerging generation of younger leaders, and the infectious spirit of this new breed began transforming corporate worship everywhere. The first time that its web users gathered in Nashville for a LIVE worship conference, names like Chris Tomlin, Delirious, Matt Redman, David Crowder and Tim Hughes were new to the church. But now their influence is felt through the corridors of Christianity and our “Sunday morning” liturgy has been significantly expanded. Many of these younger pioneers have quickly matured into world leaders, yet worshiptogether.com is still exploring new territory, searching out fresh new voices.
In a nutshell, our mission is to provide local church worship teams with (1) new, quality, congregational worship songs, (2) technique and technical tips to strengthen the delivery of these songs, and (3) ministry input to encourage and inspire.
In addition to keeping our website fully loaded with helpful resources, we are committed to connecting face to face with our users on a regular basis. To this effect, we host “worshiptogether.com LIVE” training conferences several times year, usually within the context of existing ministry events and Christian music festivals. These “events-within-events” not only give us an excuse to gather our web community, but they have a wonderful way of bringing our online resources to life. Typically we present LIVE versions of our online features, or more specifically...
New Song Café
New Song Café webisodes are a primary feature on worshiptogether.com. Each mini-documentary profiles one of our standout songwriters introducing one of their new worship songs – giving insight into the background of the song, telling the behind-the-scenes story of how it was written, and demonstrating unique chord voicings and arrangement ideas. Being onsite at these various events, we are able to feature main stage artists in a more intimate setting in our New Song Cafés, where they talk candidly about their songs and give the delegates an opportunity to get up close and personal, making themselves available to answer questions. (These sessions include free sheet music.)
Tech Café
Even though our primary thrust is to introduce new songs that can be incorporated into the worship life of the church, we are fully aware that worship teams also need to find creativity and expertise to arrange and rehearse these songs for Sunday services. Therefore, we have introduced the Tech Café as a vital companion to the New Song Café. Topics include (1) arranging and rehearsing the band, (2) sound checking the band, and (3) recording the band.
Worship: unplugged and unreserved
Some of our onsite worship leaders will host a more casual worship circle, incorporating songs introduced at the New Song Café. An oasis in our sophisticated world of hi-tech, highly produced worship endeavors – unrushed and un-programmed, straight from the heart.
Amazing Grace
As a result of our partnership with Walden Media on their upcoming movie “Amazing Grace” – the story of 18th century Brit, William Wilberforce, and how the ministry of hymn-writer, John Newton, helped spur him on to bring an end to the slave trade – we are including sessions on worship and social justice. We were never meant to be the end users of the gospel. Our encounters with God will usually result in him commissioning us to make a difference in our world.
