After an astounding 44 weeks since its initial release, Born Again, the best-selling project by Newsboys , has once again reclaimed the #1 spot. According to Soundscan, Born Again was the best-selling album on both the AC and Contemporary Christian Soundscan charts for the week ending May 15th.
The CD has produced back to back #1 hit singles with "Born Again" and "Way Beyond Myself," and their newest single, "Save Your Life," is already #23 on Christian CHR Radio and goes for adds at Christian AC Radio May 27th. Newsboys' unprecedented touring schedule and massive radio support has pushed Born Again to more than a quarter million in sales in just ten months.
After headlining this year's Winter Jam, the #1 tour in the world according to Pollstar, Newsboys took a well-deserved 24-hour break before kicking off the "Born Again Experience Tour," which closes tonight in Casper, WY after 25 shows. Known for their over-the-top live show, Newsboys fans agree that they have outdone themselves on this tour.
"I turn around at the end of the runway, just to watch the show," says Newsboys' front man Michael Tait. "After all these years, I can't believe this is possible." More than 58,000 people have joined with band and tour sponsor, Compassion International, in changing the lives of more than 2,100 children around the world.
When the tour was announced in January, the tour promoted the message of "A Night For The City To Serve The City." Redefining the live show experience, there is no question the Newsboys lived up to their promise to get audiences on their feet while offering the concert's mission to offer hope, service and compassion to the community, for one another and for those in need. Additionally, with the band's partnership with Compassion International, proceeds from the VIP Born Again Experience special tour package are going towards supplying a water filtration system for the poor community of Santo Domingo, located in the Dominican Republic.
Upon completion of the "Born Again Experience Tour," the band will be heading to the United Kingdom, The Netherlands, and Slovakia for a week of shows, then returning to the states for a number of summer and fall festival dates. For the most updated shows and information, please visit here. http://newsboys.com/tour/
When the Newsboys see a need, they do what they can do to help in any way possible. Discovering the desperate need for clean water in the Dominican Republic, Newsboys, along with the dedicated support of Compassion International, are helping to supply a water filtration system in the Dominican Republic.
It is reported that 80% of disease is caused by unclean water, and according to the United Nations Development Program, "almost two million children die each year for the lack of clean water and adequate sanitation." The Dominican Republic is directly affected by this issue, as research has found that the water in most of its provinces is not suitable for consumption.
With the partnership of Newsboys and Compassion, a water purification system plan has been developed for the poor community of Santo Domingo located in the Dominican Republic. Thanks to this relationship between Newsboys and Compassion and others on "The Born Again Experience" tour, proceeds will go directly towards building the filtration system.
Newsboys' very own Duncan Phillips was joined by Carlos Whittaker last week as they visited this community to see this problem first hand, and to see where the well will be built. See a video of Duncan talking about this partnership with Compassion here.
"When you come to a place like Santo Domingo, you understand it is a life and death struggle to get fresh, clean water," Phillips shares. "For these people, it's a daily expedition [to get clean water]. Newsboys and Compassion have commited to put in a water filtration system, and when you partner with us and purchase the VIP ticket on 'The Born Again Experience,' you directly affect clean water for a community."
Announced in January, the Newsboys' 25-city "The Born Again Experience" spring tour will bring the message of "A Night For The City To Serve The City." Redefining the live show experience, Newsboys plan to get audiences on their feet while offering the evening's mission to offer hope, service and compassion to the community, for one another and for those in need. Each night of the tour hopes to bring a true partnership of service with the city for the city.
Newsboys will be joined on the tour by Kutless, Disciple, Carlos Whittaker, and special guest speaker Bob Lenz. For more information, please visit Newsboys.com.

"The amazing support of Christian radio stations, festival promoters, our hard-working Inpop staff, and our partners at EMI CMG distribution have all earned our thanks today."

Smith). The songs were penned by newsboys, The Write Brothers, Steve Taylor, as well as a new track by Audio Adrenaline's Mark Stuart.
There is no question newsboys are truly rejuvenated with the new songs they've created as a band, and they are enjoying the amazing feedback about the brand new songs they've already been performing live. The band is also already garnering success at radio with their two new singles. "Born Again" is #4 at CHR, while "I'll Be" is climbing up the AC charts this week to #28 on AC Indicator and #35 on AC Monitor.

Combine the strengths of two supergroups that have sold millions of records, achieved an astounding number of #1 radio hits and received numerous Dove Awards. The result? A reborn newsboys. Now that longtime members Jody Davis (guitar), keyboardist Jeff Frankenstein and drummer Duncan Phillips have welcomed the vocal strengths, writing talents and boundless energy of former dc Talk member Michael Tait to the band, this is clearly a good reason to feel born again and in fact, share some new songs. On June 8th, newsboys are eager than ever to release their 15th studio project, aptly titled Born Again (inpop records).
When newsboys announced in 2009 that Tait would take over the lead vocals, the band and their fans began to relish the positives and possibilities of this brand new start. “Tait is great for us because he’s a real team player and brings a lot of enthusiasm to the mix of personalities,” Jody Davis explains. Even though Davis, along with Frankenstein and Phillips, have played together since newsboys first broke through with 1992's Not Ashamed, Tait immediately, and easily, became part of the unique and tight newsboys unit.
"We’re all getting a new lease on life from this," Jeff Frankenstein states. "The core of the band—myself, Jody, and Duncan—is reunited, and Mike is an amazing singer. It’s providential.”
Tait couldn't agree more. When newsboys called he was actually working with the legendary Clive Davis on a solo project in Los Angeles. Yet after a few great concerts together he knew the invitation to join the band was just what he needed.
Now, the foursome is embarking on a sure-to-be momentous year with Born Again, which was produced by The Write Brothers and Mark Heimermann (dcTalk, TobyMac, Michael W. Smith). Thanks to a pre-sale campaign on the band's current co-headlining Winter Jam tour, fans can advance purchase Born Again for only $7 and until the June release date, each fan receives a 5-song EP along with a chance to get the full CD autographed by the band. The campaign has been a successful since the tour kicked off the beginning of January.
"All of us at inpop records are thrilled for the upcoming release of the brand new newsboys music," exclaims John Kelly, CEO, inpop records. "It's also been exciting to hear the buzz from the fans at Winter Jam purchasing the 5-song EP. We are proud to be their record label and are truly looking forward to a great year from this stellar band."
THE SONGS
The songs on Born Again were penned by newsboys, The Write Brothers, and Steve Taylor, including a new track by Mark Stuart (Audio Adrenaline). Living out the album's moniker, thanks to "On Your Knees," the worshipful "We Remember" and the group's first two radio singles, "I'll Be” and "Born Again," both shipping February 12th to AC and CHR radio respectively, each song showcases what is noticeably different about newsboys today: story-led tunes with melodies coupled with more distinguishable piano and guitar performances.
Already a live highlight at their concerts, “Born Again” is where newsboys truly become a band renewed, and they collectively view the song as representative of everything the band has gone through this past year. “We’ve all believed in lies at some point,” Tait says, emoting his testimony. “I had some prodigal years in the past, but I hope the song encourages others to make the same decision I did: I’m giving Him the best of everything that’s left of the life inside this man / I’ve been born again.”
“Born Again” is also the project’s first music video and the perfect match to share footage of newsboys building houses in Mexico’s poverty stricken Baja Peninsula. The video, which can be viewed on the homepage of www.newsboys.com, has already seen by thousands thanks to its airing during newsboys Winter Jam set, is already impacting concertgoers on how they can do something for those less fortunate. For years the band has been serving the people in this Third World setting constructing hundreds of homes, and plans are underway to invite fans there this summer for ministry efforts. Details will be announced as soon as they are available.
Penned with longtime newsboys collaborator Steve Taylor, “Boys Light Up” is a biographical anthem of reignited belief and purpose for the band: I was feeling all overcome / Had a faith gone dim and then some / Got a call from a band of brothers . . . / All the doubters I heard them say “now the band’s gonna fade away” / But the ‘boys are back for a second act / No excuses. We’re lighting fuses.
“It’s a common theme running through newsboys,” Phillips says of the ultra-rhythmic cut with a chorus that declares: When the boys light up you know Who gets the praise, Who owns the show. “It’s like a new version of ‘Shine,’ another song of encouragement.”
With the band's efforts to connect with their audiences of all ages, through meet and greets to social media aspects, Phillips states, "It helps us gauge the pulse of where our fans are at and what they're going through, and I hope they feel a sense of greater reconnection that the band is trying to make."
In all, newsboys view this new collection of songs as representative of everything the band has gone through this past year. They are truly Born Again.
Born Again EP Track Listing:
1. Born Again
2. On your Knees
3. When The Boy's Light Up

Best-selling newsboys recently inked a deal with American Athletics, a licensed Converse distributor, to launch its own line of Converse Chuck Taylor All Star shoes. The joint venture commemorates the first time the shoes have been branded with a Christian music artist’s logo.
Chuck Taylors have become a cultural icon, donning the names of legendary bands including Black Sabbath, The Doors, Grateful Dead, The Who, Ozzy Osbourne, and now newsboys. An exclusive partnership developed by Bernard Porter (PCG Nashville) and Robert Michaels with newsboys manager Wes Campbell and American Athletics owner Gary Church made this opportunity a first for the Christian music industry.
“American Athletics has placed shoes on the feet of Mel Gibson, Whitney Houston, and the likes of Bob Dylan,” says Church. “But I personally have never been involved with a group as excited to wear Chucks as newsboys. Great group...great shoe. Both are All Stars.”
“The opportunity to be associated with Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars is exciting,” says newsboys manager Wes Campbell. “I have personally worn them for years. newsboys is a great choice to break into this market. We launched the shoes on newsboys' current The Way We Roll Tour, which kicked off October 1 in Greensboro and will run through mid-November.”
Nashville, TN (September 22, 2009) ---- The year 2009 is going to be a life changing time for the band, Me In Motion. The group has signed with Centricity Music and will embark on the Newsboys The Way We Roll Tour October 1st.
"We are so excited to add Me In Motion to the Centricity family,” says Conor Farley, Vice President, Centricity Music Publishing. “This is the band we have been looking for as a label since they bring faithful hearts, great songs and a rock’n roll live show that leaves you energized and encouraged. Their vision for ministry is deep but reachable, which gives them a great ability to connect with their fans. Me In Motion consistently amazes me.”
Me In Motion’s debut project will release to CBA retail in spring 2010 and the good news for fans is that the band will be selling early copies of the new CD at all Newsboys concert dates and digitally online. The first single from the new album, “Losers,” has been serviced to CHR radio with an add date of October 16th.
Me In Motion, which is comprised of Seth Mosley (lead vocals/guitar), Tim Wilson (bass/background vocals) and Brian Dexter (drums/background vocals), was formed by Mosley after working two years in a recording studio following high school graduation. After realizing he didn’t want to “sit in one place all the time,” was when he brought Wilson and Dexter on board to begin the musical journey as Me In Motion. The talent of the group immediately brought them attention which led to 140 tour dates in 2008 and Me In Motion will surpass this number of dates in 2009. But more than playing Brit-influenced rock, it’s the message that Me In Motion wants to impact with their audiences.
“We want to inspire people to realize that there is something to be done here and now,” says Mosley. “We want to encourage people to be movers and shakers for Christ.”
The Christian music industry got to experience the dynamic performance of Me In Motion when they made their debut GMA appearance at Centricity Music’s showcase in April. The group received a rousing response from the industry VIPS and there were even standing ovations.

From its indie beginnings at the tip of the 2000s to debuting on BEC Recordings in 2005, Seventh Day Slumber has continuously raised the bar of alternative rock excellence coupled with an unabashed gospel message. As most will recall front man Joseph Rojas was delivered from depression and a $400 per day cocaine addiction, but the story doesn’t end there. In 2006, Rojas formed Teenhopeline, Inc. to reach out to hurting teenagers and young adults in ways that are relevant to them. Teenhopeline, Inc. has now partnered with Seventh Day Slumber to ensure that those who come to the alter do not fall through the cracks when they head back to their day-to-day life. In 2009, Seventh Day Slumber released their first worship project “Take Everything,” which applied their rock, alternative style to worshipful songs. The band also received their first DOVE Award win for “Spanish Language Album” (“Rescatamé”). For more information visit: www.seventhdayslumber.com and follow the band on Twitter @7thdayslumber .
Infused with an energy that finds its source in their passion for bringing others closer to Jesus, Bread of Stone is a Christian band based out of Sioux City, Iowa with a sound all their own. Coming from Indonesia, the largest Muslim country in the world, Bread of Stone was formed by two brothers Ben (vocals) and Bill Kristijanto (guitar) and later joined by friends, Jeremi Hough (drums) and Tim Barnes (bass), they have answered the call to ministry through inspiring music. With a unique blend of rock, pop, and worship, their music takes listeners on a journey through the heights and depths of the human experience. They are determined to glorify Him in everything they do, for this is the true heart of Bread of Stone.

Multi-platinum Christian rock band P.O.D., currently on hiatus following a lengthy world tour, will make its 2009 concert debut as part of a 14-act lineup announced today for Disney’s Night of Joy Sept. 11-12 at Walt Disney World Resort. The musically diverse event at Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park also will feature MercyMe, newsboys, Skillet, Flyleaf, Chris Tomlin, Kutless, Jars of Clay, Grits, Leeland, NEEDTOBREATHE, Superchick, Mandisa and Family Force 5.
Seven acts will perform each evening between 7 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. at stage locations throughout the park. Night of Joy begins after regular park operating hours, with concerts and select park attractions available exclusively for the enjoyment of event ticket holders.
P.O.D. is among four acts new to Night of Joy (along with Grits, NEEDTOBREATHE and Family Force 5), joining a legacy of 134 Christian music acts that have played Night of Joy since 1983. While a Disney “newbie,” the southern California-based band that fuses hard rock with hip-hop, reggae and Latin music is well known in music circles. They’ve been a hit on MTV, won two GMA Dove Awards, been Grammy-nominated, had two platinum-certified albums – one triple platinum – and in past summers played some of the north’s biggest Christian festivals.
But in spring/summer 2009, P.O.D. is chillin’: Vocalist Sonny Sandoval and the rest of the band are home in SoCal enjoying family life following a seven-month world tour that wound up in South America in December, making their Sept. 11 date at Disney P.O.D.’s first gig of the year.
“In the past year we’ve been blessed to play all around the globe but performing at Disney World excites me most of all,” Sandoval said.
The complete Sept. 11 Night of Joy lineup: P.O.D., newsboys, Kutless, Tomlin, NEEDTOBREATHE, Leeland and Superchick.
On Sept. 12, the Studios’ stages will present: Skillet, MercyMe, Jars of Clay, Flyleaf, Family Force 5, Grits and Mandisa.
Eight of the acts are nominated for Gospel Music Association Dove Awards in 2009, topped by Tomlin with seven nominations including artist of the year. Other nominees are Kutless, Leeland, NEEDTOBREATHE, Skillet, MercyMe, Mandisa and Grits.
For Mandisa, Night of Joy will mark her second “guest appearance” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in 2009. On Feb. 12, she was among an unprecedented gathering of 27 “American Idol” finalists – including the winners from each of the show’s first seven seasons – who participated in a Hollywood gala-style event to premiere “The American Idol Experience.” The new attraction immerses guests in the excitement of the hit TV show “American Idol,” with some guests at Disney’s Hollywood Studios auditioning to take the spotlight onstage, while fellow guests cheer them on from the audience and vote for their favorite singer with instant results.
With an innovative ticket – exclusively for groups of 10 or more – that combines a “day” visit to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with Night of Joy admission that evening, guests will have a chance to participate in “The American Idol Experience.” And by booking on or before Aug. 12, the Studios day/Night of Joy group ticket costs just $44.95 plus tax (beginning Aug. 13, it costs $49.95).
There’s also a two-day ticket exclusively for groups of 10 or more that combines Night of Joy admission on both evenings (Sept. 11 and Sept. 12) with two “day visits” to the guest’s choice of Walt Disney World theme parks (one per day) on Night of Joy weekend (Sept. 11-13). Booked on/before Aug. 12, that ticket costs just $89.95 plus tax (beginning Aug. 13, it costs $99.95).
Night of Joy tickets for individuals also are available. One-night tickets purchased in advance (up to the day prior to the event) are $49.95 plus tax (on event day, if available, tickets are $54.95). Two-night tickets (providing admission to Night of Joy on both Sept. 11 and 12) are $84.95 plus tax.
All the details about tickets for groups and individuals are available online at www.nightofjoy.com.

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) March 9, 2009— After 22 years and more than 2000 shows, newsboys frontman Peter Furler will no longer front the band in concert. Michael Tait will be touring with the band as lead singer with Peter making special appearances throughout the year.
Peter will continue with the band and his trademark songwriting and production will remain as he focuses his professional career toward future newsboys recordings.
Michael has been on the road with the band over the past weeks working alongside Peter in what has been a positive and enjoyable experience for both parties. It has been a graceful process that both Peter and Michael have worked through as they prepare to make the change in the coming weeks.
Peter states “newsboys to me has always been a mission, and I entrust Mike, Jeff, Jody and Duncan to continue all that is in store for us as a band. I’m looking forward to focusing on the band’s studio career and spending time in my own bed after many years in a tour bus and hundreds of thousands of miles on the road.”
Wes Campbell, newsboys manager explains, “While the decision to replace Peter on the road was a painstaking one, when the idea of dc Talk vocalist Michael Tait was presented it was a no-brainer to all of us. No one can replace Peter, but we know Michael will bring a new attitude, energy and vocal style that will thrill our audience. To be able to continue a world class show and still have Peter behind the scenes guiding the career and making of newsboys music is a huge opportunity for all of us. It’s amazing that after many years of touring with dc Talk in the 1990s that in 2009 our paths would cross once again. It’s an exciting time for all of us.”
“For years, dc Talk and newsboys have been family and thus shared the same loyal and adoring fans, says Michel Tait. “When I received the initial call from newsboys to consider joining the band as lead singer, I was speechless! I immediately sought wise counsel and flooded the heavens with endless prayers for insight and vision, and I soon received a clear and definite peace. Last weekend, I had the opportunity to perform my first show as newsboys’ frontman to an audience of 12,000 people. I was completely wrapped in love and support by newsboys’ fans, who are clearly the best fans on the planet. Now I know this is exactly where I belong in this new and wonderful moment in my life’s history. This is a definite highlight of my career and for my 20+ years of walking with Jesus, and I am humbled, proud and privileged to call myself a newsboy.”
In the coming days Peter will be releasing a personal statement on the band’s website in more detail.
The band has recently finished recording its new studio album, In The Hands Of God, which features Peter as lead vocalist on the entire album. Street date for this record is May 5th.
With five gold albums, sales exceeding six million units, more than 20 No.1 radio hits, and a mantle of Dove Awards as well as Grammy nominations, newsboys has achieved phenomenal success in its two decades together. Legendary, best-selling pop-rock band newsboys prepares for the release of its fourteenth studio project, In The Hands of God, releasing May 5, 2009. The group is currently debuting music from its forthcoming record on the sell-out “Join The Tribe” spring tour.
Produced by Max Hsu (Superchick, tobyMac) along with newsboys’ Peter Furler and Jeff Frankenstein, In The Hands of God boasts the classic rock sound that has made newsboys’ music legendary among Christian music fans for more than two decades. Featuring 10 hit songs, including “No Grave,” “My Friend Jesus” and “Glorious,” the album additionally includes background vocals by Michael Tait of dc Talk and Jamie Rowe of Guardian. In The Hands of God, as Furler explains, is an autobiographical record and a tribute to God’s divine providence over newsboys’ long-running career.
In The Hands of God is already being embraced by radio with the debut single and title track, currently at No.10 on Radio & Records’ Adult Contemporary Indicator chart, No. 16 at AC Monitored, and No. 15 at CHR in only one month’s time. The single was released to iTunes on February 24 and rose to No. 4 on iTunes’ Top Christian Songs chart in less than 24 hours.
“‘In The Hands Of God’ is a song that needs to be heard in times like these, and the success the song is seeing at radio and digitally sets a great precedent for the record,” says Shara Katerberg, director of marketing for Inpop Records. “Given the current state of our economy, everyone is dealing with hardship, and In The Hands Of God is an album that reminds us that God was, is, and will always be in control.”
Fans attending newsboys’ spring “Join The Tribe” tour have responded enthusiastically as well; the 35-city tour, which kicked off Feb. 19, has already sold out six dates, including upcoming shows in Manheim, Pa., Scranton, Pa., and Longview, Texas. (NASHVILLE, Tennessee) – GRAMMY® Award nominees DecembeRadio are excited to join the Newsboys for the 35-city Join the Tribe tour which launches this Friday, February 20th, in Fredrick, MD. The tour, which will run through mid-April and also features bands VOTA and Bread of Stone, will support Global Tribe (www.globaltribe.com), an organization fighting physical and spiritual poverty.
“The Join the Tribe tour is going to be a blast!,” stated Josh Reedy, lead singer and bass player for DecembeRadio. “It's really cool for us to be a part of a tour with a band that we grew up watching. I know it will be a night of great music, energy and ministry.”
DecembeRadio will be performing songs from their current release, Satisfied, which was named among the “Best of the Best in 2008” by the staff and senior music editors from the Gospel Music Channel website (www.gospelmusicchannel.com).
“It's rare that a Christian rock record really rocks to the degree of deafening proportions, but DecembeRadio gets props for not only reaching that amplification level, but doing so with sophistication and satisfaction,” stated the editorial staff online. “[DecembeRadio] returns with even more muscle than the first round, all the while holding firm to their faith. Anyone who's seen the group in concert can also attest to their intensity, making DecembeRadio's future all the more alluring.”
The Gospel Music Channel's editorial team named the song “Gasoline” as their iTunes pick for the Satisfied release. This song is also available digitally as a ringtone.
Satisfied was also selected in the “Top 10 Critics Picks” for 2008 according to CCM Magazine's editors, two of which named DecembeRadio in their annual top choices for the best faith-based albums of the year.
Christianity Today (www.christianitytoday.com) released their Best of Christian Albums of 2008 list as well, also honoring DecembeRadio's Satisfied, which landed at #10. On street week in August, the release debuted at #3 on the Christian sales chart and at #116 on the BILLBOARD Top 200 chart.
The band's new single, “Look for Me,” an epic ballad with early buzz and early adds at various stations, hit the airwaves at AC radio last Friday.
“DecembeRadio's new ‘Look for Me' single caught me off guard,” stated Bart Wagner, PD for WAYR in Brunswick, GA. “I listened to it Friday afternoon and it stuck with me all weekend. The first lyric on the second verse just keeps running through my head – ‘There's a grace dying to erase all that you have said and done.' What an amazing way to capture God's forgiveness that is so available!”

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Dec. 12, 2008 –Christian music mainstay newsboys and international outreach organization Global Tribe hosted its debut REACH event last month at Tucson Electric Park in Tucson, Ariz. Drawing a capacity crowd of 15,000, more than 600 attendees responded to the Gospel message presented by newsboys frontman Peter Furler.
Concert-goers were lined up as early as 8:00 am to attend the 5:00 pm event launched in partnership with Family Life Radio, Chick-fil-a, and more than 25 local churches. Hundreds of church volunteers were also present to assist those who responded for prayer and counseling, helping them to connect with a local fellowship.
“Having 15,000 people at the REACH event was great, but the most exciting aspect was watching hundreds get out of their seats and respond to the Gospel,” says Furler. “Equally gratifying was all the churches in the community coming together for one night to impact their city. This is the heart of REACH and where we hope to see our contribution in the foreseeable future.”
President of Family Life Radio, Dr. Randy Carlson comments, “As a result of the effort of hundreds of volunteers and staff, REACH Tucson has set a Family Life Radio record—it’s the largest event in our ministry history and fulfillment of our Community Transformation strategy.”
A Global Tribe ministry, REACH was created as a means to reach out to family, friends, and neighbors through a fun evening of music and leaning about Jesus. It is designed to be a resource for local churches to impact their communities with the message of Christ at a time when young adults are leaving the church in large numbers. PAUL'S JOURNAL AND RANDOM THOUGHTS
January, 2006
Hi there,
The last few months or so has been a whirlwind and I have not had time to journal. Why?
Read on…
I finished '05 with a mini tour with the Newsboys and Barlow Girl and then my 9th tour of the year to Europe. These handful of gigs were truly awesome. I felt God’s blessing and presence in a way I have never felt it before. But it was it was the end of an era. Why?
Read on........
Then we headed off to Australia for a 3-week holiday. Holiday my foot!! We had to completely pack up our house in Melbourne, sell, store and throw away our ‘stuff’. I also spent a lot of time rehearsing. Why?
Read on........
I started writing and singing my own music when I was 11. That was 27 years ago this year. I have recorded about 13 albums, done thousands of solo shows, had the Paul Colman Trio etc. You can read it all on this site. But now it is the beginning of a new era. Why? You know what to do.
Read on........
I have been begging the God of this Universe, who is alive and well by the way despite the ‘clever’ claims of secular post modernists, to begin a season in my life where I truly have my foundations in Him and His love for me. I have felt exhausted for a long time. I have needed fresh vision and direction and yet hey! I’m Paul Colman and I earn my living traveling the globe performing. I am pretty outspoken and forthright but under the surface I have some hurts, loneliness and fear that it hard to take time to deal with when it takes just about all your time to just keep going. So thus my prayer to God asking Him to help me find the space to deal with some foundational issues in my life and yet keep doing what I love: traveling and performing music.
And so here comes the big curve ball out of LEFT field.
Peter Furler of the Newsboys asked me to join him in the band.
WHAT!!!!!! I know, I know………WHAT!!!!!! I said……”to do what exactly?”.
He asked me to be the new guitarist, backing vocalist and songwriter in the band. I was actually speechless. (I know some of you are finding that a bit hard to imagine) Anyway, after about a week Rebecca and I decided that this was exactly what we felt God encouraging us to do. So I am in the Newsboys. I have rehearsed with them and tonight (Jan 13) is my first show. I know, I know, its crazy hey? But I have to tell you I am SO excited about this.
Do I have plans for a new PC record? Not currently.
Am I going to be doing and PC solo/band gigs? Not many.
Am I cool with this? Absolutely!
Do I feel weird not being the lead singer? Absolutely not!
Am I worried about my own music never happening again? Not at all!
God is the best manager, producer, co-writer and agent you can ever have. One of my greatest faults in my life is that I have not given Him the room to lead. Well, I have truly lived my last album title haven’t I? LET IT GO!!!! Jesus said that if you try to save your life you will lose it but if you lose your life for His sake you will truly find it. He is SO SO SO right! As usual.
We tour Australia in April and all over the USA and Europe this year. See www.newsboys.com
So thanks for all your continued support and love and I look forward to seeing you at a Newsboys gig. Maybe you should all go to www.newsboys.com and join the ‘breakfast club’ and come and see me backstage. Or maybe have a sign at one of the shows so I can recognize you. I will be on Peter’s left as you look at the stage.
I will most likely release a few PC products on this site this year so keep posted. I will also maybe have a few select PC gigs here and there, so once again stay posted.
Love you all.
