"Live Life Loud is really about encouraging our fans to do just that. To live your life loud, to embrace all that life brings your way and experience every moment of it to the fullest extent. This is the message we want our fans to come away with after they hear the album." -- Hawk Nelson bassist Daniel Biro.
Recorded in Nashville, TN, Hawk Nelson enlisted producer Steve Wilson to craft what was to become a 12-song set that sweeps from the manic to the mellow and all points in between. Live Life Loud was recorded in two separate sessions, due to a hectic touring schedule, and marks the first time the band wrote songs together by just jamming as a band. The album also features collaborations with Chris Stevens, Matthew Gerrard, TobyMac, Trevor McNevan and Bart Millard. This fourth studio album release from the band hits fans' hands on September 22nd. The first two singles "Live Life Loud" and "Meaning of Life" are currently available on iTunes.
Also make sure you pick up your pair of TOMS Shoes to help the band get their goal for their Haiti shoe drop. For every pair of shoes purchased via Hawk Nelson's website equals a pair of shoes that TOMS donates to a child in Haiti towards the band's ongoing involvement with the Hands & Feet Orphanage. SEATTLE, WA...May 26, 2009...The question "Where in the World is Hawk Nelson?" would be appropriate for the band that has been coast to coast this year playing in front of more than 350,000 fans with the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular (Jan.-March), REVOLVE tour (Jan.-Feb.), and finished up the Rock and Worship Roadshow in April. Despite this insane touring schedule, fans will be pleased to know that these road warriors have found time to record their fourth studio album in Nashville, TN. SEATTLE, WA...December 5, 2008...This week Hawk Nelson is celebrating the launch of their newly designed website (hawknelson.com), which focuses on their "One Little Miracle" campaign. The band is also thrilled as their most recent project "Hawk Nelson is My Friend" received a GRAMMY® nomination for "Best Recording Packaging." The GRAMMY® nomination goes to the designer Don Clark who created the packaging concept for the album. Hawk Nelson's album design is nominated along with the recording packaging for "Death Magnetic" (Metallica), "Nouns" (No Age), "Radio Retaliation" (Thievery Corporation) and "Summer Rains" (The Ditty Bops).
Debuting in September was Hawk's "One Little Miracle" campaign, which involves multiple facets partnering with various organizations to urge others to reach outside and be that "one little miracle" that can change someone's life. The moniker for the program is based of the band's Top 3 CHR single "One Little Miracle" which is also available as an EP on iTunes featuring a special performance with Amy Grant.
A part of this initiative includes Hawk Nelson partnered with TOMS shoes, who provide shoes for children in poverty stricken areas with the motto "One for One." For the band's effort, every pair of shoes purchased via Hawk Nelson's website, TOMS donates a pair of shoes to someone in Haiti as the band's ongoing involvement with the Hands & Feet Orphanage. Coming in 2009 will be a Hawk Nelson TOMS shoe designed by the band.
As one of the features on the new site, fans can watch Hawk Nelson's famed Vodcasts. The newly posted video from Sacramento, CA shows the heart of the band as they outreached to Ronald McDonald homes this fall in the REVOLVE tour cities. After the last REVOLVE date of the year this weekend the band will be back on the road in 2009 for the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular beginning January 8 in Roanoke, VA. SEATTLE, WA...September 24, 2008...From the band that knows how to make teen girls swoon as well as impact the lives of the youth generation, Hawk Nelson is on target to make a difference with the "One Little Miracle" campaign in multiple facets. The band is partnering with various organizations to urge others to reach outside and be that "one little miracle" that can change someone's life. The moniker for the newly launched program is based of the band's newest single "One Little Miracle," which is currently charting at No. 6 on CHR formats.
As the song states:
One little revolution could turn it all around.
Back to the Kingdom we once knew
Just a little bit of me, just a little bit of you
One little miracle to get us through
Not just focusing on one area of need, Hawk Nelson has chosen three avenues to be the "one little miracle" across the nation; however, the band needs the help of their truly devoted fans and following to make an impact. Each outreach will enforce the band's ongoing involvement with the Hands & Feet Orphanage in Haiti, which the band visited last summer and recently purchased a van from proceeds raised during the spring tour (pictured below). The orphanage was directly hit in the recent Gustav hurricane, and the band is striving to help provide aid as many others.
Hawk Nelson & TOMS Shoes

and truths that we deal with in our lives and give some positive solutions to our peers and the people we make our music for.”
True to its title, Smile, It’s The End Of The World, is jam packed with catchy melodies and lyrics that showcases Hawk Nelson’s growth as
a band since their debut two years ago. Co-written by the band and Thousand Foot Krutch’s Trevor McNevan, who spent time touring with
Hawk Nelson last year, Smile, It’s The End Of The World is a more diverse, mature collection of material. The band has broadened its
sound with additional keyboard input from Dunn and a barbershop quartet from Pike’s Market in Seattle, Washington (“The Show”).
Although the CD takes an upbeat approach, Hawk tackles serious subjects on the disc that is evident on the song, “Zero,” which addresses
the reality of teen suicide. Dunn himself had a personal experience of a 19-year-old friend and co-worker who committed suicide.
“The song talks about how a guy’s feeling after his best friend kills himself,” says Dunn. “It goes on to explain his inner thoughts, and how
he starts to blame himself for what happens. It really shakes your life up when someone you’re that close to is all of a sudden not there, not
a part of your life anymore.”
One of the disc’s most powerful numbers, “The One Thing I Have Left,” features blaring guitar chords and strong backing vocals. With the
instantly catchy chorus, this song is about the members of Hawk Nelson standing up for their beliefs and maintaining their dignity. The
first CHR radio single, “Everything You Ever Wanted,” speaks to the topic of abandonment and not living up to someone’s standards.
After the success of their debut project Letters To the President, Hawk Nelson has experienced much activity in the last two years landing a
television appearance playing The Who, performing “My Generation” on the NBC television series “American Dreams,” a big-screen
performance in the remake of the 1968 film Yours, Mine & Ours (starring Dennis Quaid and Rene Russo) singing their song “Bring Em’
Out” (which appears on the new disc), music placement on “Smallville,” “Summerland” and the Summer 2004 Olympic commercials.
To speak to the fan base that Hawk Nelson has developed since their debut, the band landed on the cover of the 2006 Reader’s Choice issue
of CCM Magazine being voted as the “New Artist of the Year,” “Artist to Break Into The Mainstream” and “Artist to be on the Cover.”
Hawk Nelson also had the top song (“Take Me”) on the Air 1 Network for 2005. The band also moved into the No. 1 slot on R&R’s
Christian Rock radio charts this week with their final radio single from the debut project “Things We Go Through.” It was also recently
announced that Hawk Nelson has been named “Best Band” in the Golden Ear Awards, which are voted by the readers of Ignite Your Faith
(formally Campus Life). The winners will be mentioned in the March/April Ignite Your Faith magazine. Jason Dunn was also voted “Best
Male Vocalist” in the awards.
Supporting the sophomore release this spring, Hawk Nelson will hit the road with Thousand Foot Krutch. In addition, Hawk Nelson will be
heading up a unique themed “Prom” tour hitting more than 15 dates around the country. More details will be coming on both tours.
