Pop/rock band Building 429 (Essential Records) sets a new record on the Billboard National Christian Audience chart with “Where I Belong” holding the top spot for 15 consecutive weeks. The group continues its momentum through 2012 with an impressive summer festival circuit and non-stop fall touring.
Written by Building 429 frontman Jason Roy, and award-winning songwriter/producer Jason Ingram, “Where I Belong,” is from the band’s fifth studio project, Listen to the Sound, released in May of 2011. The album, which debuted at the top of iTunes’ Christian & Gospel Albums chart, has turned out three hit radio songs to date, including No. 1 CHR and Top 5 AC radio single “Listen to the Sound” and “Made For You,” Top 5 on Billboard’s National Christian Audience chart.
“Where I Belong” is Building 429’s most successful radio single from the project, surpassing songs by tobyMac and Phillips, Craig & Dean, who held the top spot on the Billboard NCA chart for 11 straight weeks. In addition, the song maintained top billing on the Billboard AC Monitored chart for 11 consecutive weeks and was No. 1 for multiple weeks on the Christian CHR chart.
News of the song’s success is par for the course for Building 429 this year. The foursome has maintained one of its busiest tour seasons yet, kicking off 2012 with a 47-city “Winter Jam” tour, which saw attendance exceeding 500,000. Building 429 will go on to make appearances at summer festivals including AtlantaFest, ALIVE Festival, Ichthus Music Festival, LifeLight Festival, Kingdom Bound, Unity Music Festival, JFest, and others, while hosting international tour dates in Canada, Denmark, Norway and the Philippines. The band will also head out this
fall on Newsboys’ “God’s Not Dead” tour before joining Newsong’s 2012 Christmas tour.

Dove Award-winning band Building 429 and three-time Grammy nominee Leeland will join forces this fall to co-headline the 30-city “Sounds of Hope” Tour, which will also feature emerging pop-rock band Royal Tailor. In partnership with Food for the Hungry, the tour will kick off Sept. 22, and travel across the eastern and mid-American states before wrapping in November.
The "Sounds of Hope Tour" comes on the heels of Building 429’s fifth studio album release, Listen To The Sound (May 10), featuring the title track which became a recent No. 1 hit radio single. Leeland drops its brand new album, The Great Awakening, on Sept. 20, just as the tour hits the road and the album’s first two singles, “I Wonder” and “The Great Awakening,” continue to gain momentum at radio. Royal Tailor will tour in support of its brand new national debut, Black & White (May 31), featuring the current hit single “Hold Me Together.”
“After years of admiring from a distance the amazing music and ministry of Leeland we are so excited to be merging our own music and ministry with theirs,” says Building 429 lead singer Jason Roy. “We expect an amazing night of worship and entertainment that will ignite a passion in old fans and new. Top that off with a brand new band ready to take on the world, and you find three bands unified and touring with new purpose and a new fire. We’re all excited about raising the bar far beyond what the fans have come to expect on the 'Sounds of Hope' Tour.”
“I feel like this record is the beginning of a new season for us,” says Leeland Mooring. “I can't wait to start this tour because I'm expecting to see awesome changes in people’s lives! We're excited about partnering alongside Building 429 and Royal Tailor to create an atmosphere for the love of God.”
“The Great Awakening is more than a record to us, and we really feel that it’s a sound that is meant to be expressed live,” adds Leeland keyboardist Jack Mooring. “Real revival and awakening – that’s the message. I know Building 429 and Royal Tailor have the same hearts, so it’s going to make for a powerful night, and a unified sound.”

Dove Award-winning band Building 429 celebrates the release of its fifth studio album, Listen to the Sound, this week with a No. 1 CHR single and top positioning on iTunes’ Christian & Gospel Albums chart. The record’s momentum continues to build, as Building 429 trades in a successful spring headlining tour for the “Listen to the Sound K-LOVE and Air1 Listener Appreciation Tour” through late May.
In less than two months, listeners and stations have helped to catapult “Listen to the Sound” to No. 1 at CHR, No. 7 at AC and No. 6 on the Billboard National Christian Audience chart. The single peaks in time for street week, as the disc itself debuts at the top of iTunes’ Christian & Gospel Albums chart.
The project’s reach extends beyond radio or retail, as Building 429 debuted music from Listen to the Sound live on its spring headlining tour, which wrapped April 30 in West Virginia. The tour, which additionally featured Revive and Anthem Lights, saw impressive attendance as it made its way cross-country for 20+ dates.
Building 429 is taking its new music out on the road again this month as part of the “Listen to the Sound K-LOVE and Air1 Listener Appreciation Tour.” The special event, which is free to listeners, kicked off May 7 in Knoxville, Tenn. and will visit eight markets, including Oklahoma City, San Antonio, Denver and Indianapolis. Air1 Program Director, Paul Goldsmith, comments, “We are so excited to show appreciation to our listeners by bringing the sound of Building 429 live in concert!”
Building 429 will alternate the Air1/K-LOVE concerts with CD release events in North Carolina, Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, California, Maine, and Pennsylvania. Building 429 frontman Jason Roy explains, “Not only will we be playing six or seven new songs off of the new record, but we’ll also be displaying a new show for the first time in some years. We've been trying out bits and pieces on the ‘Winter Blast Tour’ and getting awesome response, so we can't wait to roll the whole thing out on the spring tour!”
Additionally, Building 429 will be partnering with long-time supporters Food for the Hungry to secure sponsorships for children and families in Haiti as well as other impoverished countries. See below for more on Food for the Hungry.
“Food for the Hungry is a cause near and dear to our hearts,” says Roy. “Combine a great ministry like Food for the Hungry with great music by artists like Revive and Anthem Lights, and some meaningful time with God, and you have the makings of a great tour!”

Dove-winning band Building 429 enters into a new season as it joins the Provident Label Group family and announces its fifth studio album, set to release May 10, on Essential Records. Titled Listen To The Sound, Building 429 has crafted a record that is sonically vibrant and lyrically substantive, with songs that collectively acknowledge life’s struggles, but point to the hope, grace and love of God.
The 10-song project is produced by Jason Ingram and Rusty Varenkamp (Tenth Avenue North, Sanctus Real) and Rob Hawkins (Fireflight). Blessed with one of the most distinctive voices in any genre of music, lead singer Jason Roy, wrote or co-wrote nine of the ten tracks on the new album.
Roy says, “I’m a worship pastor now and that has been a huge part of the lyrical content of this record because many of the songs are about the lives that I’ve been involved with through working at my local church. The writing really does come from a much more honest place, as an overflow of the life that we’ve lived over the last two or three years, especially this past year.”
Drummer Michael Anderson agrees, “Individually we’re all on a different spiritual level than we’ve ever been,” he says. “We have great home churches now that we’re happily involved in. Our family lives at home are better than they’ve ever been and our relationship as a band is light years above what it’s ever been. I think that really shows through with this new music.”
Roy adds, “All four of the guys in the band have come to the conclusion that we have finally made ‘the’ record of our dreams in Listen To The Sound. People have come to expect something of Building 429. This record is going to break that expectation in the best possible way!”
The title track garners immediate national attention at radio as the first weeks of adds result in confirmations from all three K-LOVE, Air 1 and WAY-FM networks, plus commitments from 52 AC and CHR markets including Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Denver, Tampa and St. Louis.
Scott Smith, Music Director of K-LOVE says,“I love the new Building 429 song, ‘Listen To The Sound’! The band’s fresh, new sound is one we believe that K-LOVE listeners will love.”
Corey Mann, Music Director for WHPZ South Bend, IN, adds, “This new record is everything AC needs in a band. Good songs with incredibly catchy sing-a-long moments, great guys, amazing live show, and a message that needs to be heard. One of the best of 2011.”
Roy acknowledges the uplifting messages shared on Listen To The Sound will encourage families struggling in this tough economy, people dealing with depression and other challenges. “This record keeps coming back to the point that this is not what we were made for, that this is not our home. It is hitting people in the midst of a struggle and reminding listeners they are not alone and hope is rising, but it’s doing it in this pop kind of thing that makes you smile while you listen to it.”
The impact of Listen To The Sound’s new hope-driven songs is already being felt within the band’s own family. Roy shares, “I finished the record and I sent the songs to my dad and he literally asked me, ‘did you write these songs about me?’ The answer to that question was ‘no, not intentionally.’ But it also proves to me that all of us struggle in a lot of ways with the same stuff. It’s how you choose to handle the situation that you are in that defines who you are.”
In the past few years, Roy, Anderson, guitarist Jesse Garcia and bassist Aaron Branch have toured heavily, hitting the road with Casting Crowns, tobyMac and other acts as well as headlining several treks. This month, Building 429 will headline a 20-city “Listen to the Sound Tour” kicking off late March, featuring guest artists, Australian rockers Revive and pop foursome Anthem Lights. Additionally, Building 429 will be partnering on tour with long-time supporters Food for the Hungry to secure sponsorships for children and families in Haiti as well as other impoverished countries.
Building 429 is best known for its 2004 breakout hit “Glory Defined,” which was named BMI’s Christian Song of the Year in 2005, and that same year Building 429 was named New Artist of the Year at the Gospel Music Association’s Dove Awards. From that launching point the band has been tirelessly playing 150 live shows a year, developing their own touring brands “Winter Blast” and “SummerFest,” and growing its dedicated fan base.

Continuing their efforts to aid in Haiti disaster relief, Building 429 will headline the 30 Seconds To Change Tour: A Tour To Benefit Haiti this fall. Partnering once again with Food For The Hungry, the tour is hitting more than 25 markets along with special guests MIKESCHAIR and Abandon.
After traveling to Haiti with Food For The Hungry earlier this year, the members of Building 429 have become strong advocates of the organization’s cause. The tour encourages the sponsorship of Haitian children, spreading the message that it only takes 30 seconds to contribute to restoring the hope of a devastated country and change a life forever.
“The goal of Building 429 is to sponsor 4,000 kids in Haiti this fall,” said Building 429’s front man Jason Roy. “The number one religion in Haiti is witchcraft. If we can help 4,000 families there encounter the love of Christ, just imagine the revival that would take place.”
The 30 Seconds To Change Tour kicks off on September 30 in Waterloo, Ont., and is scheduled to run through November 20 with its last show in Corinth, Miss.
“We were searching for something to offer more than just music,” said HR Ministries tour promoter Torey Hammett. “When we heard this tour was being promoted as a Night for Haiti relief, that was all we needed to hear…Great artists with great music and the greatest message of all time--Jesus Christ.”

So moved by what they saw and the Haitian people they met, Summerfest 2010 is partnering with Food For The Hungry to seek child sponsorships specifically in Haiti, which aid children who have been displaced by the 2010 earthquake.
“After being in Haiti just a couple months ago, the work of Food For The Hungry has rooted itself even deeper in our hearts,” said Building 429’s front man Jason Roy. “We’re proud to be partnering with them on this upcoming summer tour, working to save the lives of thousands of Haitian children. Spreading the mission of Food For The Hungry is an honor and we are excited to do it on the Summerfest 2010 tour.”
Summerfest 2010 runs through August 20, visiting 13 cities. Tickets for the family-friendly event are available at the door for the low cost of $5, except for a few select markets. For more information about Food For The Hungry’s Summerfest 2010 tour, visit the tour website at www.FHSummerFest.com.

Sparrow Records’ rising female artist Britt Nicole will embark on several tours throughout the year, the first of which is The Summerfest Tour with pop-rock bands Building 429 and MIKESCHAIR. Immediately following her summer endeavors, Britt will continue on the road through the fall alongside Dove Award winners Hawk Nelson starting in September. To catch Britt on the road, visit www.brittnicole.com for a list of dates and venues on both tours.
In addition to her cross-country stops, Britt will take time out in July for a few intimate Disney Night of Joy promotional performances for radio personnel performing new renditions of her hitsfrom her debut album Say It and sophomore release The Lost Get Found. These particular arrangements can be found on Britt’s new acoustic EP, scheduled to release August 24, which features five of her most popular tracks and a new, never before released song.
Also coming this fall will be the debut Britt’s 3rd single off The Lost Get Found album, “Hanging On” scheduled to go to radio this fall. “Hanging On” is the follow-up to her current single “Walk On The Water,” which peaked at No. 1 on CHR, placed in the Top 20 at AC and most recently was heard on NBC’s The Biggest Loser.
With so much devastation in Nashville due to the recent flood disaster, many artists are joining together to help restore their community. Britt also jumped on board and recently performed at Brandon Heath’s 3rd Annual “Love Your Neighbor Benefit” held at Fellowship Bible Church in Nashville, TN, alongside fellow artists Mike Donehey frontman of Tenth Avenue North, singer/songwriter Jason Ingram, Grammy winners Amy Grant and TobyMac and Grammy nominee Brandon Heath. With over 2,000 people in attendance and close to no standing room available, more than $61,000 was raised during this event in which all of the funds went towards rebuilding El Shaddai, a church that was demolished in the floods.
