Two-time GRAMMY® nominee Matthew West is set to follow up his critically acclaimed 2010 album, The Story of Your Life, with the release of a collection of brand-new songs titled Into The Light on September 25, 2012. The new studio album, produced by Pete Kipley, features 12 tracks inspired by letters submitted by the thousands after West invited people to send him their stories. The songs making up this sixth studio project from West were written mostly while he was on tour this spring with Casting Crowns.
After receiving over 10,000 personal stories from all over the globe for his 2010 project, The Story of Your Life, the acclaimed singer-songwriter, who has been forever impacted by the outpouring of stories, felt as though there was even more for others to say during this season of his music. West collected stories for this new project through the end of March. The tracks comprising Into the Light were inspired by stories touching on everything from drug addiction, the rejection of apathy, abusive relationships and the faith we find in the waiting.
"There is power in a story," says West. "And we all have a story to tell. Over the last few years, I have had the honor of reading over 20,000 stories from people all over the world who have answered my invitation to share the story of their lives. The songs on Into the Light are inspired by these amazing, real-life stories. Each one has had a profound impact on my life, and I can't wait to share these stories and songs with the world. I believe the stories told on this record will challenge all who hear to discover the hope, healing and freedom that can only be found when we step out of the darkness and into the light."
The lead single from Into The Light, “Forgiveness,” is quickly gaining ground at radio, with it claiming the No. 10 spot on the National Audience Chart, No. 15 at Christian AC Monitored, No. 11 at AC Indicator and No. 24 at CHR this week. In addition to already charting in the Top 10 on the National Christian Audience chart, the single garnered over 5 million audience impressions this week. "Forgiveness" has been in the Top 10 on the iTunes® Christian & Gospel Songs chart since its release earlier this month.
West penned the powerful track after hearing the story of Renee Napier, whose 20-year-old daughter, Megan, was killed in a car wreck by a drunk driver, Eric Smallridge, over Mother’s Day weekend in 2001. Smallridge was convicted of DUI manslaughter and was sentenced to 22 years in prison. However, Napier has not only forgiven the man responsible for her daughter's death—she even thinks of him like a son. In fact, she actually petitioned the court, which agreed to cut Smallridge's 22-year sentence in half; he will be released from prison this fall. After hearing this story, West felt compelled to not only write a song inspired by Napier’s courageous and humbling act of forgiveness, but he also felt convicted to give her story a voice to reach those who may not have the chance to hear it otherwise. Thus, West’s song “Forgiveness” sets the stage for the 11 other gripping stories which are Into The Light.
The video for the story behind “Forgiveness” is one of the most-watched on the popular video site GodTube, totaling over 50,000 views within just a few days of posting. To view the video, visit GodTube's site here.
Earlier this year, West joined Casting Crowns on the nationwide “Come to the Well Tour,” which visited around 40 markets from February through May. West will hit the road again this fall for a headlining tour, beginning in Dallas on September 20. Joined by MIKESCHAIR, Lindsay McCaul and Everfound, “The Into The Light Tour” will visit major markets including Chicago, Denver and Tampa, among many others. Following the critical acclaim of her first solo album, Life Light Up, celebrated songstress and worship leader Christy Nockels is poised to release her second solo album, Into the Glorious with sixstepsrecords. Christy’s stunning vocals are the centerpiece and focus of this new album, which will be released on April 3, 2012.
Produced by husband, Nathan Nockels (Chris Tomlin, Passion, Laura Story), the album’s pristine, understated production places the focus on Christy’s engaging, passionate voice and intuitive songwriting. Well-respected in the industry as a “singer’s singer,” she has a gift for imbuing each lyric with an authenticity and emotional integrity that resonates with the listener.
“He really took me deeper during this writing and recording process, and I’m just so grateful how He does that,” Christy says of God’s faithfulness. “He doesn’t leave us to our own devices. He loves us enough to take us deeper. I feel like that’s what happened during this record and the end result is something more special to my heart than I can ever remember a record being to me.”
Finding God in the midst of every moment is a central theme throughout Into the Glorious and is best exemplified in the title track. The album’s lead single, “Ever Lifting,” combines Christy’s unique writing style with a bit of a country twist that speaks of how God’s love continues to bless our lives and bring us closer to Him. Other album highlights include Christy’s rendition of the Judds classic “Love Can Build a Bridge,” as well as beautiful worship songs such as “For Your Splendor” and “Wonderful.”
Whether she’s leading worship at a women’s conference, singing praises in front of over 42,000 people at Passion or writing a worship song in her mini-van with her children in the backseat, Christy Nockels uses her gifts as a singer and songwriter to create music that connects believers with their loving Father.
The City Harmonic is about “getting people in on the act—hearts pounding and feet moving.” The band, consisting of front man Elias Dummer, bassist Eric Fusilier, guitarist Aaron Powell and drummer Josh Vanderlaan, joins Aaron Gillespie to co-headline the HELLOSOMEBODY Tour that launches Sept. 22 in Phoenix, AZ and hits 12 cities before wrapping up in Rockford, IL Oct. 16. Featuring special guest Ben Pirtle, founder of HELLOSOMEBODY (http://hello-somebody.com/), as well as Jake Hamilton (Sept. 21-30) and AJ Cheek (Oct. 1-16), the tour is being sponsored by HELLOSOMEBODY in an effort to continue feeding the hungry around the world (see full tour itinerary below).
With the band’s name partly derived from the sense that in communal worship we catch a fleeting glimpse of the world that we pine for, The City Harmonic isn’t as interested in finding fans as they are looking for participants in the journey.
“We want this tour to help people see their stories lining up with God’s story for them and the world. Worship ought to feel like that – some unveiling of something bigger than ourselves,” says The City Harmonic’s front man Elias Dummer. “If we can somehow spark in people a dream, something they just can’t shake, then that will inspire them to sing like every word matters, to live like every day matters, and having tasted heaven they’ll get on with helping this world feel more like home. This tour promises to be a creative night of worship, and all for a great cause.”
“This is a different night, it isn’t a concert, it isn’t a popularity contest. This night is about Jesus and worshipping Him out loud and for real,” shares Aaron Gillespie. “Bring everyone you know, we are being sponsored by HELLOSOMEBODY, and we are gonna be feeding needy kids through their incredible merchandise. Come hang!”
Almost immediately following the tour, The City Harmonic will release its first full-length album Oct. 18 (yet to be titled). Bucking the trend of many full-length recordings that follow EP debuts, The City Harmonic’s new album will be all new music. The band’s hit EP, Introducing The City Harmonic, that sparked the considerable radio hit, “Manifesto,” will remain a stand-alone offering. The new album will continue the journey of songs and stories that tell of hope, unity and seeking a greater kingdom.
With a new radio single from the upcoming album set to launch in late August, The City Harmonic’s “Manifesto,” continues to gather fans. Most recently garnering a recommendation from Chicago Bulls star player Klayton Korver on his twitter page, the song has also served as the theme music for a National Day of Prayer promotional campaign, been heard at Major League Baseball stadiums and spent many months on the Billboard National Audience chart. “Manifesto” has also sold over 71,000 digital singles so far, making it the 12th best selling digital single of 2011 on the SoundScan Top Current digital singles year-to-date chart, while more than 786,000 people have viewed the video at www.youtube.com/thecityharmonic.
Powerfully delivering the hit single on main stages across the US, The City Harmonic has inspired and unified thousands of festival goers to loudly respond to the pulse and message of the music. Having already been enthusiastically received at Ichthus Festival, Big Ticket Festival, Alive Festival, Sonshine Music Festival and Creation Northwest, the band’s upcoming events include Ignite Festival (July 29), Kingdom Bound (August 1), Soulfest (August 3-6) and others.
Stepping back into the spotlight after a decade away takes an unusually high degree of musical integrity. For folk-rock pioneer Burlap to Cashmere, a band that built a reputation for both exceptional studio projects and as an unyielding touring act in the late ‘90s, that integrity shines through on a new self-titled, 11-track project due July 19 on Jive/Essential Records.
Its initial single “ Build A Wall” goes for adds at AAA radio on June 26 while early fan and industry buzz reflecting acclaim for the band’s refined new sound, is building.
The Tennessean took note in a recent spotlight (5/13/11): “Brooklyn’s Burlap to Cashmere took its modern folk-rock to the masses in 1998 with its major-label debut, Anybody Out There? – and followed up that Dove Award-winning effort with a nearly decade-long hiatus. In the time the band has been away, a similar blend of worldly folk has made stars out of acts such as Mumford & Sons and Fleet Foxes. With its new self-titled album – set for a July 19 release on Jive/Essential Records – Burlap to Cashmere looks to reclaim that turf in top form, with an inspired blend of Mediterranean rhythms, rootsy textures and tight-knit harmonies, which lend the unmistakable air of folk-rock greats Simon & Garfunkel and Cat Stevens.”
With its core lineup intact – singer/guitarist/songwriter Steven Delopoulos, guitarist John Philippidis, and drummer Theodore Pagano — Burlap to Cashmere returns with renewed focus, drive and energy. “There’s something about family and people you’ve known forever that makes the chemistry happen,” Delopoulos says. “There’s a sense of honesty and trust. That’s Burlap
to Cashmere.”
On its first album in more than a decade, Burlap to Cashmere draws from all the influences that made it a touchstone band: Mediterranean and Greek rhythms, flamenco and classic American folk, to create a rich body of work that embraces the past while crystallizing its new creative vision.
For the last ten years, a Burlap to Cashmere reunion seemed like wishful thinking. After garnering awards, a dedicated following, and credentials earned non-stop touring alongside some of the biggest names in music, the band was exhausted and went on an indefinite hiatus.
In 2005, tragedy struck when guitarist John Philippidis was beaten and left for dead after a road rage incident near his home in Brooklyn. An extended hospital visit, which included a full month in a coma and radical facial reconstructive surgery, ultimately sparked a band reunion.
In 2010, Burlap to Cashmere headed into the studio with acclaimed producer Mitchell Froom (Elvis Costello, Paul McCartney, Sheryl Crow, Tom Waits) to begin work on new material. His rules were simple: “There would be no nudging and no Auto-Tuning. We’re going into this to capture everything that’s organic about the band.”
“For me, Burlap to Cashmere is a classic band in the best sense of the word. From the great songwriting and singing, to the deep and accomplished musicianship, they are absolutely a distinctive band,” shares Froom. “This is particularly apparent in the songs that incorporate their unique approach to traditional Greek rhythms. All you have to do is listen once to ‘Don't Forget To Write’, and it's abundantly clear - you've never heard anything quite like it. We also set out to make a record that put musical feeling and performance at a premium - live singing and playing, no click tracks, etc. Developing this kind of hybrid sound in the studio was a big challenge for everyone involved, but ultimately, what else do you hope for?"
Recalling the musical intimacy of Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, Bob Dylan and Simon and Garfunkel, coupled with Delopoulos’ introspective and poetic songwriting, the album announces Burlap to Cashmere’s triumphant return in a record that will surprise longtime fans and intrigue the uninitiated.
Fans of modern troubadour outfits like the Avett Brothers and Mumford and Sons will find common ground with Burlap To Cashmere’s output, with the added textures of the Greek and Mediterranean influences further fleshing out the band’s unique take on 21st century folk-rock music.
Burlap to Cashmere recently unveiled its new body of work to a sold-out crowd at New York’s “Le Poisson Rouge." As part of a promotional tour leading up to the July 19 album launch, the band is making media, retail and radio visits including the 2011 Pandora Radio Summit (May 4) in New York City and a performance May 15 in Nashville as part of the Lightning 100 live concert series “Nashville Sunday Night” which broadcasts live from the legendary 3rd & Lindsley. The band returns to New York for a May 25 show at Rockwood Music Hall’s “Stage 2” followed by a West Coast run that includes two nights at Hollywood’s Hotel Café.

One of Christian music’s most recognized names and voices, Rebecca St. James – now a member of the Reunion Records roster – prepares to launch into a very busy spring 2011 season with the release of her new worship album, I Will Praise You.
The new recorded project, releasing to physical and digital retail outlets on April 5, features the initial single “Shine Your Glory Down,” which has already drawn raves from radio programmers across the country.
“It’s about time!” shares an excited Cecil Vanhouten of the Family Life Network (Bath, NY). “Rebecca’s ‘Shine Your Glory Down’ has the kind of upbeat worship feel that’s perfect for AC radio. A multi-faceted artist, a new label and a new record – the new year’s off to a great start.”
Also loving St. James’ new song is Kurt Wallace of WHZN Radio in Indianapolis, IN. “I love upbeat, vertical songs,” he shares “And when it’s sung by one of our format’s most recognizable voices, I was quick to put it on ‘The Walk!’”
I Will Praise You marks St. James’ first studio project since 2005’s If I Had One Chance To Tell You Something, but that hardly means St. James has been resting on her laurels, keeping her schedule busy with live performances, film work and writing books. St. James’ ninth book, “What Is He Thinking?” is scheduled for a September 2011 release through Hachette/Faithwords publishing.
Still, once back in the studio, St. James and producer Mark A. Miller (Casting Crowns) found the process of crafting the tracks for I Will Praise You a rewarding creative time.
Miller shares, “It was a pleasure working with Rebecca through the recording process on this project. She is a true professional with such a heart for worship. The songs on this record reflect that heart and even more so, her desire to help the listener draw closer to God. I’m proud to have worked alongside Rebecca. I know this record will be a blessing to anyone who listens.”
Rebecca St. James already has a packed schedule surrounding I Will Praise You, including street week appearances on FOX News Channel shows “Hannity” and “Fox & Friends” already on the books, and a nationwide tour of mega-churches scheduled for weekends through June. (Check for scheduled cities/dates at www.rsjames.com).
In advance of her April 5 album launch in New York City, and amid a flurry of wedding planning,
Rebecca will make an additional appearance on “Hannity” next week (Feb. 28) as a part of Sean Hannity’s Great American Panel.
St. James is keeping a good bit of her schedule open, though, to adapt to a new phase of her life…as a married woman. In April, St. James will wed Jacob Fink, who proposed on Christmas Day, 2010.
In preparation of Matthew West’s fourth album, The Story of Your Life, iTunes ® will be featuring a weekly countdown with a single premiere and podcasts for three weeks leading up to the Oct. 5 release of the album. The countdown is launching this week with the release of “Strong Enough,” a song inspired by a letter from a single mother of three children after her daughter survived a life threatening car accident and struggled with the long road to recovery. Click here to download the song on iTunes ®.
Following the premiere of “Strong Enough,” iTunes ® will debut “To Me” on Sept. 21 as well as “One Less” on Sept. 28. These releases will also be a part of the iTunes ® “Complete My Album” feature allowing consumers to purchase the full record for a special price. Along with the song, listeners will also be able to download a corresponding video podcast with the story behind each song.
West will embark on “The Story of Your Life Tour” this fall with special guests Jonny Diaz and Josh Wilson in partnership with Operation Christmas Child. The tour kicks off this Thurs., Sept. 16 in South Carolina and will run through early Nov. A complete list of tour dates is included below.
The first single, “My Own Little World” has already received a warm welcome at digital outlets and Christian radio ranking in at top 10 on AC Indicator, No. 14 on the National Christian Audience chart and No. 16 on AC Monitor with over 80 stations playing the song. The songs sets the tone for the entire album and reflects on how the stories changed West. “ I look at the world in a different way,” explains West. “The words of ‘My Little World’ are how this process has changed me. It’s not about me and the irony of this record is that I’ve never been so excited about a record - and it’s not about me. I’m the singer and the messenger and I connect with these songs, and it fires me up.” To hear the story behind “My Own Little World,” visit http://vimeo.com/14209837.
Thousands of stories from every state in the U.S. and 20 countries were the source of motivation for Matthew West’s fourth Sparrow Record’s album, The Story of Your Life, set to release on Oct. 5. Also available on Oct. 5 is the digital and physical deluxe editions of the album which include four bonus acoustic songs, and videos of the story behind every song on the album.
The well-known singer/songwriter turned to his fans via web and radio for songwriting material for his new album asking them to submit their stories of restoration, celebration, pain, hope and more. One thousand responded in the first two days alone, leading to the thousands that answered from across the world. He then spent two months in a cabin outside of Nashville, Tenn. reading every story and then transforming them into songs for the record. The songs range from joyful stories about adoption and victories over cancer, to heart-breaking letters of abuse and broken homes. “As stories began to pour in by the thousands, I quickly sensed that not only was something special taking place, but that my life was about to change,” explains West. “During those months, my eyes were opened to see the world outside my door like I had never witnessed before.”
Word Records recording artist Meredith Andrews is preparing for the March 2 release of her sophomore project As Long As It Takes. Produced by Jason Ingram and Rusty Varenkamp (Bebo Norman, Aaron Shust, Tenth Avenue North), the duo that also produced Andrews’ debut record The Invitation, As Long As It Takes is the result of a two year wait since the release that launched the hits “You Invite Me In”, “You’re Not Alone” and “New Song We Sing.”
“I am honored to share these pieces of my heart with anyone who will listen, simply because the more I live, the more my eyes are opened to God's relentless, consistent, loving pursuit of his children. I pray that my personal journey will in turn lead the listener into a deeper, more honest relationship with Jesus.” shares Meredith.
Featuring the single “Can Anybody Hear Me?”, which was added to over 50 radio stations the first week of release and has already climbed into the Top 20 in less than five weeks, As Long As It Takes includes eleven new tracks from the singer-songwriter. “How Great Is The Love”, co-written by well-known worship leader Paul Baloche, is one particular stand-out track as well as the moving “Come Home” written for Andrews’ younger brother. “What It Means To Love” was inspired by a life changing encounter with a young orphan boy diagnosed as HIV positive, McKinsley, that Andrews met on her first trip to Haiti.
On street date, Meredith will be performing a concert with Z88.3 radio and New Missions in Orlando to raise funds for Haiti. For each CD sold at this event, all proceeds will go to New Missions for Haiti. The following day, KLTY, one of the largest Christian radio stations in the United States, will host an event in which 100 winners will be treated to a private dinner and “story teller” styled concert with Andrews.
Additionally, Meredith is currently offering three pre-order packages in her online store (www.meredithandrews.com/store) which feature exclusive content including videos and songs as well as other product products fans can choose from.

Sparrow Records award-winning modern worship band Starfield readies the release of its latest studio project, The Saving One, Feb. 23, 2010. The album will feature Starfield’s signature energetic worship songs, many reflecting a tone of personal confession.
As with previous outings, including 2008’s critically acclaimed I Will Go, Starfield continues to write songs for the church community. The Saving One is no exception, showcasing the signature harmonies of brothers Tim and Jon Neufeld on 10 soaring worship anthems.
“One of the many great things about working with Starfield is that because they have such a sizable and devoted following in the Church, they are laser-focused on writing songs that connect with that audience,” says Vice President of A&R for EMI CMG Brad O’Donnell. “Even before The Saving One’s release, we’re seeing indications that this new record has some of the best worship songs they’ve written yet.”
Starfield also reaches new lyrical maturity and vulnerability with The Saving One, as it explores songs of a more personal nature including the confession of doubt on “Something to Say” and the plea for restoration in lead radio single “Rediscover You.”
“’Rediscover You' is as accurate a description of my journey with Christ as anything I've ever written,” says Tim. “I desperately find myself needing to rediscover the things of God - I want real, and I want passionate. I want to relearn 'walking by faith,' and I found incredible freedom in speaking those desires out in the lyrics.”
The creation of The Saving One began as a collaborative writing effort that spanned several months. Tim and Jon took time to sit down and write at home several times per week before teaming up with songwriters Ed Cash, Ben Glover and Hillsong’s Mia Fieldes, as well as songwriter/producer Ian Eskelin. Starfield and Eskelin then came together and recorded the record in nine straight days. The result is a Starfield album designed to reach the listener in a personal setting and within a church community.
“Rediscover You” is already impacting at Christian AC and CHR radio with multiple adds and spins early on. The band will be performing at Dare2Share events in February and March 2010. For more information, visit www.starfieldonline.com or www.myspace.com/starfield
On the heels of the successful headline tour last fall, GRAMMY-nominated artist Jeremy Camp is kicking off 2010 to reach listeners with his music, message and ministry with another headline acoustic tour. Camp will launch his spring tour “Jeremy Camp Live Unplugged” with special guest and wife Adie on February 26th in Illinois (dates below). This tour was created with Camp’s fans in mind, providing an intimate night of worship and fellowship with Jeremy as well as Adie, who is releasing a new album in March.
The tour will once again be sponsored by Compassion International and feature Speaking Louder Ministries, which involves Jeremy and team reaching out locally to a set outreach in each market.
"It has been a couple of years since we have done an acoustic tour,” shares Jeremy Camp. “I love this type of tour because it is a very unique experience for everyone. The reason we are doing it, is it brings a different atmosphere all together. The night is more mellow and allows me to talk more about the songs and the purpose behind them. They are smaller shows, usually in churches, and it turns out to be an amazing night of worship. With Adrienne being out on the road with our two girls, Arie and Bella, it makes the tour a great family environment. Can’t wait to see what God has in store this year."
Last year was a highlight year for Camp with the launch of his ministry “Speaking Louder Ministries,” a fall headline tour, second American Music Award nomination and continued radio success. In addition, Camp ended the decade with Billboard recognition as the No. 3 Christian Artist of the Decade. Camp also had five songs in the Billboard Top 50 Christian Songs of the Decade (songs listed below). Rounding off the year and kick-starting 2010 was Camp’s first GRAMMY nomination for his latest studio release “Speaking Louder Than Before.” The awards will be held January 31st in Los Angeles, CA.
Camp also began this year recording his next studio project, a worship-themed album with award-winning producer Brown Bannister. Follow Jeremy on Twitter for studio updates and YouTube videos (@JeremyCamp).
As the year rapidly comes to an end, BEC Recordings looks ahead to 2010 with new artist signing to their freshman class, The Museum. Involved heavily with their local church, Briarlake Church in Decatur, GA, as well as leading at North Point Community Church partner churches, this pop/rock foursome is ready to share their music with the new and loyal fans they’ve made during 175 tour dates in their first year together.
“We're excited to be working with BEC Recordings and the great team established there,” shares the band upon joining the BEC family. “We're pumped to produce a great sounding record and get on the road as much as we can. It's the new faces we'll meet along the way that make traveling great.”
The Museum has just finalized their debut radio single with producer Jason Ingram in Nashville, TN. The band is anxiously working out the details of their freshman album, which will release in 2010, date to be determined.
Not only concerned with recording their label debut, the band is striving to make a difference by teaming with Overlooked, a non-profit organization created to expose people to the problems in the world and offer a simple way to make a difference. Through the support of people at shows and events throughout the US, the band has raised thousands of dollars of support to provide meals to starving children worldwide. Fans flocked to her angelic voice with her debut solo album, “Don’t Wait,” over three years ago on BEC Recordings. Adie describes the music as more “organic and raw” than her solo debut.

In an unprecedented six-year span, with 4.5 million career album sales, Casting Crowns readies for the Nov. 17 release of its fourth studio album, titled Until The Whole World Hears. The five-time Dove Award-winning “Group of the Year” remains focused on discipleship through music with its new 11-song collection, featuring boldly-honest lyrics from lead singer/songwriter Mark Hall, giving listeners a fresh, relevant perspective on loving God and loving people. With Hall’s 18 years in youth ministry, the band’s message remains rooted in the student services he has led on a weekly basis since 2001, at Eagles Landing Baptist church near Atlanta.
Hall says, “The songs start out as our messages to the 400 teens and families we see each week at Eagles Landing. Our goal is to live our lives telling others about Jesus – until the whole world hears – those simple words are a challenge to be intentional with the way we live our lives.”
This week, the title track and first single jumps to No. 1 on Billboard’s AC-Indicator radio chart marking a ninth career chart-topping song for Casting Crowns. The hit song also moves up to No. 2 on Billboard’s National Christian Audience chart gaining 8.1 million weekly impressions.

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) Oct. 2, 2009—Credential Recordings piano pop/rock band Seabird readies the release of its highly anticipated sophomore studio project, Rocks Into Rivers, Dec. 15, 2009. The group has jump-started its promotion of Rocks Into Rivers, currently debuting the record live on David Crowder Band’s fall 2009 tour.
A follow up to Seabird’s 2008 critically acclaimed label debut, ‘Til We See The Shore, Rocks Into Rivers features top-notch production by Paul Moak (Mat Kearney, Sixpence None The Richer) and Matt Hales from Aqualung. The band split its time between Ocean Studios in Los Angeles and The Smoakstack in Nashville, honing what brothers Aaron and Ryan Morgan are calling their most exciting project to date.
“For this album I think we wanted to mature both musically and lyrically,” says Aaron. “We have families now and are experiencing different aspects of life, and we think that our audience has matured with us as well. We want to continue making songs that inspire people to change and grow. There is a musical progression in these songs, they may be a little less poppy but at the same they definitely showcase our rock sensibility.”
“It’s been a really good collaboration,” says Hales. “I’ve felt a bit like I’ve been in the band...they’ve been very gracious in allowing me to bring my ideas in. When it’s all together, we’ll have a striking, confident, really enjoyable record.”
The project’s first single, “Don’t You Know You’re Beautiful,” is currently vying for adds at CHR/AC radio. The song will be available at iTunes and other digital music outlets beginning Nov. 3. In the meantime, Seabird will join headliner David Crowder band on a 30+-city tour kicking off this month. Additionally featuring Sparrow recording artist Danyew, the tour will visit major markets including San Antonio, Houston, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Seattle, Minneapolis, Chicago, Detroit, Dallas, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, New York City and Atlanta through late November. For a complete list of tour dates, visit: http://www.myspace.com/seabird.
Cincinnati-based Seabird comprises brothers Aaron (vocals/keys) and Ryan (guitar) Morgan as well as Preston Lane (drums). The band signed with Credential Recordings in late 2007 and released its debut label project,‘Til We See The Shore, June 24, 2008. A collaborative effort with producers Jacquire King (Modest Mouse, Kings Of Leon, Tom Waits, Switchfoot) and Allen Salmon (Mute Math, This Beautiful Republic), the album received phenomenal national publicity, featured on episodes of “Numb3rs,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” and promos for ABC’s 12-time Emmy-nominated series, “Pushing Daisies.” The band was also recognized by its hometown as “Artist of the Year” at the 2008 Cincinnati Entertainment Awards and toured with artists including Barcelona, Meese, and Jars of Clay throughout the spring and summer of 2009. (Nashville, Tenn.) September 16, 2009 – As rock powerhouse Pillar gears up for the launch of its career-shifting sixth album Confessions (Essential/Provident), its simultaneously released radio singles (July 31) are making waves at radio. “Fire on the Inside” has climbed to No. 8 on the Christian Rock chart while the CHR single “Secrets and Regrets” was added by the Air-1 Network reaching two-million listeners, weekly.
In addition, the Dove Award-winning and GRAMMY nominated band recently announced its fall Confessions Tour with KJ-52, Run Kid Run and 7eventh Time Down. Promoters are anxiously anticipating the bands arrival in their markets.
“Pillar was part of our Rock the Sound festival this summer in New York City,” said Chris Barrett, President - Rock the Sound Concerts. “They played our rock room along with RED, Decyfer Down, Remedy Drive and Doubledge. All night the room was pulsing with energy as the anticipation grew for Pillar’s appearance onstage. Their set was strong and the crowd was with them from the beginning.”
Matt Brown, Kansas-based concert promoter, expressed a similar sentiment. “The ‘Confessions Tour’ was a huge ministry outreach to our community. The event strengthened believers while it introduced non-believers to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
“The time that Rob Beckley, Pillar’s lead singer, had with the youth leaders before the concert was totally unexpected, and truly appreciated,” shared John Hill, Uvalde, Texas Event Organizer. “The one-on-one interaction, from the second the band drove up until the last student left, made the event unforgettable. Six months later our youth are still talking about the experience. Thank You, Pillar.”
Thematically, the album picks up where Pillar’s profound spring “Confessions Tour” left off earlier this year. A confessional curriculum, called “My Secret,” being taught in the band’s local Tulsa, Oklahoma church, changed the way the members of Pillar wanted to engage its audiences on tour.
“We decided to give our fans a way to pour out their hearts anonymously, yet before God” says Beckley. “We took thousands of blank confession cards [distributed via a confessional booth] on the road. It definitely brought kids to the point of acknowledging their sin and what was going on.” The “Confessions Tour” had a defining impact on Pillar as its members read and prayed over each audience’s confession cards. Explains Beckley, “More than ever, it put things into a perspective of ‘what we do matters.’”
That approach obviously carried over to the new album. “1 John 1:9 says, ‘If we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’ Every song on this album could be broken down to ‘If you just confess,’” shares Beckley. Under this umbrella, recurring themes on Confessions include unity, commitment and perseverance.
While lead singer Rob Beckley and guitarist Noah Henson have been the band’s principal songwriters the past eight years, Confessions marks the first time the two of them have collaborated with writers outside the band. Guest composers include Chris Stevens (tobyMac, Sanctus Real), Skidd Mills (Saving Abel, Skillet), Keith Wallen (Fuel), Red guitarist Jasen Rauch and Building 429 front man Jason Roy.
Confessions’ production marks equally new territory. Pillar teamed with GRAMMY nominated, Dove Award-winning producer/songwriter Rob Graves (Red, Wavorly) and further enhanced its sound through new bassist Rich Gilliland (KJ-52, Brandon Heath) and drummer Taylor Carroll (After Edmund).
Graves notes, “Originally I was just supposed to write with Rob (Beckley) for the album. But after spending the day with him in a writing session, I called my manager and told him to get all over the record. I wanted to produce it. The result is something I’m extremely proud of. The guys allowed me to push them as hard as I needed to and they gave it everything they had. They impressed me on so many levels. They’re genuinely great guys, and a band I hope to continue working with regularly.”
New Sparrow Records artist, 19-year-old Alabama native Sarah Reeves will release her debut Sweet, Sweet Sound on April 21. The six-song set reveals a tapestry of worship-inducing pop distinguished by her sweet vocals and unashamedly vulnerable lyrics.
Written in conjunction with Nashville’s most sought-after songwriters, including two-time SESAC Songwriter of the Year Jason Ingram (Brandon Heath, Rush Of Fools, Tenth Avenue North), Ed Cash (Chris Tomlin, Laura Story), Matt Bronleewe (Rebecca St. James, Plumb), and Marc Byrd (Leeland), the album was produced by Dove Award-winning producer Ian Eskelin (Francesca Battistelli, Krystal Meyers) and Matt Bronleewe. The result is a song collection which speaks to the heart of who Reeves is and her earnest desire for an effective ministry.
“I have one goal and one true destiny, and that is to bring people to the heart of God, to help them understand his love, his mercy, and the freedom and power of worship,” says Reeves. “My goal is to lead the nations into His arms. That’s my calling.”
“Sarah’s passion for leading others in worship comes through on every track of her record,” says Brad O’Donnell, VP of A&R for EMI CMG. “I believe that her emotional lyrics, her distinctive voice and her ability to communicate onstage will connect with her generation and anyone else who is looking for a fresh worship sound and experience.”
Reeves is currently a special guest on the “Wonder of the World” tour featuring headliner Rush Of Fools. Presented by Freedom Begins Here, the tour also features Inpop Records Jimmy Needham and introduces new artist Joy Lippard. The tour kicked off in Garner, N.C. Feb. 20 and will conclude April 5 in Marietta, Ga. Her debut radio single “Sweet, Sweet Sound,” available at iTunes, is currently at No. 27 on the R&R AC Monitored chart and continues to get adds at Christian AC, CHR and INSPO radio. She is also featured on an upcoming EMI compilation record, re-making “Lamb of God” by Twila Paris.
With zealous faith and a love of music early on, Reeves first exercised her songwriting/vocal abilities as a participant in her church’s fine arts program. Consistently placing first at local as well as regional competitions, Reeves was moved by the receptiveness of young people to her message—one of power and freedom in the Holy Spirit. She has since made it her goal to serve God by leading young people into a lifestyle of worship and adoration to Him. Reeves is managed by Patton House Entertainment, with booking through Jeff Robert & Associates. For more information on Sarah Reeves, visit http://www.sarahreeves.net/.

Nashville, Tenn. Sept. 8, 2008… The unique iShine Live event will launch nationwide this Sept. with a star packed crew including host Luke Benward from “How to Eat Fried Worms” and Disney Channel’s “Minutemen” as well as music from 15 year-old Robert Pierre and tween girls trio The Rubyz. Also added to the mix will be interactive Jelly Telly characters designed specifically for iShine from Veggie Tale’s creator Phil Vischer as well as speaker Paige Armstrong and backstage personality “JP.” Amidst the tour, the iShine crew is also launching an online “iShine So iDance” contest through the end of the Nov. on iShinelive.com as well as their youtube page.
Around 20 dates are scheduled for the fall and 70 performances are slated for 2009. Creative Artists Agency is booking the event, home to tween songstress Hannah Montana, Tobymac and Carrie Underwood. For all tour information including dates and tickets, go to myspace.com/iShinelive.
Here to fill an age gap in faith-based entertainment, iShine Live is a two and a half hour event that will include music, a speaker and overall entertainment designed specifically for the eight to 14 tween market.
Tweens ages eight through 14 are emerging in every area including kids music sales which increased 38.5% to $17.1 million last year alone. According to Billboard, this musical category was the only one to show growth in 2007, with tweens spending $50 billion dollars a year and their parents spending an additional $150 billion on their behalf. iShine wants to acknowledge the needs of this growing generation and provide them with not only entertainment, but with an identity in their faith as well.
iShine Live recently held a kick-off event at Disney World’s Odyssey Center on July 13 at the International Christian Retail Show. The event included an address from founder Robert Beeson as well as Michael Omartian and Allan Hardin. The breakfast was attended by around 75 guests and also included devotions from The Rubyz, Robert Pierre, Luke Benward and Paige Armstrong.
“This younger market is hungry for music and they want something that applies to their lives, something that they can connect with,” explains iShine founder Robert Beeson. “And as far as the Christian community is concerned, there is a real lack of music being made for this age group.”
In addition to the tour, the iShine crew is launching the “iShine So iDance” online contest where they are encouraging tweens to be fun, creative and show how they shine through dance video submissions. Submissions can be sent to idance@ishinelive.com for approval prior to being posted on youtube and will include three categories for solos, duos and group dances. There will be prizes for the best rated in each category and then an overall grand prizewinner. Anyone can vote online at the youtube website. All dances must be choreographed to one of the six songs listed at the below link from Benward, Pierre and The Rubyz. For a free download of these songs, go to iShinelive.com. For more information about the “iShine So iDance” campaign along with a sample video from The Rubyz, visit www.youtube.com/ishinesoidance
At first glance, Luke Benward looks like any other typical 12 year-old boy. Born and raised in Franklin, Tenn., he spends his free time like most kids his age: playing football, video games, break dancing and practicing on his new electric guitar. Lucky for Hollywood, Benward is not just your average seventh grader. Luke’s first break was at the age of five, appearing along side Mel Gibson in We Were Soldiers. At age eight, he was cast as Stevie Dewberry in the family film Because of Winn Dixie. During the fall of 2006, moviegoers laughed as Luke (Billy Forrester) choked down ten worms in the hit Walden Media Film How To Eat Fried Worms. Most recently, Benward has appeared in Disney Channel's Minutemen and can be seen later in the year in the Diamond Dog Caper. He was named as one of “Hollywood’s Top 12 Kids to Watch” by The Hollywood Reporter in 2006 and is working on an upcoming career in music.
Robert Pierre is a 15 year-old sophomore who plays high school basketball, leads student worship at his church, is involved in student leadership at his school and is working on his sophomore record with Matt Bronleewe (DC Talk, Steven Curtis Chapman, Tobymac). He is truly a multi-talented young man with a desire to make a difference in his generation. Since 2007 Robert has performed for more than a quarter of a million people at major Christian summer festivals and as the guest artist on Christ In Youth’s national Believe tour. As he talked with students on the road, Robert realized so many of them find their identity in anything from celebrities and athletes, to music and video games. As a result, Robert wants to influence his peers to find their identity in Christ. That passion is reflected in the songs he co-wrote for his upcoming release, Identity.
Here to fill the industry age gap, The Rubyz released their iShine Record’s self-titled debut on April 1. Comprised of Cammie Hall (17), Alexis Slifer (14) and Marissa Milele (13), The Rubyz’ debut record has been praised by everyone from Christianity Today to Girl’s Life magazine. Though their sound can be compared to the fresh chart-topping teen discs like High School Musical or Hannah Montana, their lyrics are sure to be grasped by tweens and teens alike. Whether it was taking dance, performing in their local school theater or playing bass, drums and even piano, The Rubyz are your average girls who are making music about everything from acting their age to friendship. The band’s freshman project was produced by Chris Omartian (Hilary Duff, Pink, Jump5) with Executive Producer Joy Williams. The Rubyz were also recently accepted into Radio Disney’s coveted Incubator Program in June 2008.
Paige Armstrong’s life changed abruptly in 2001, just before her 11th birthday, she was diagnosed with bone cancer. She spent most of the next year in the oncology unit of St. Christopher’s Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia as she endured extensive chemotherapies and surgeries. However, the cancer became an opportunity to begin fulfilling her dream of being a Christian recording artist and songwriter. The Make-A-Wish Foundation sent her to Nashville, Tenn. in 2003 to record songs with industry professionals. Since that time she has been all over the country with her story and songs and was featured on ”The Today Show” as well as the TV show “Extra” when she made a CD for the Bath and Body Works Christmas Album in 2005. Many of her appearances are fundraisers for Make-A-Wish, The American Cancer Society, schools and churches. She and some friends also formed a group called “Kids 4 Kids” who perform at children’s hospitals and cancer camps. Paige wants to focus her message on young people who she believes often become discouraged and aimless because they don’t realize that God has a plan for them. Her “anti-apathy” message includes the slogan – “You Have A Life – Use It!” In addition to her singing and songwriting, Paige is working on a book to guide young people in discovering their gifts, developing a passion and “using the life they have been given”.
