Nashville-based film company City of Peace Films and indie record label City of Peace Media have received two Dove Award nominations in the Short Form Music Video of the Year category with "As For Me And My House" by John Waller and "A Thousand Generations" by Sean Spicer with Tilly Cryar. Dustin Marcellino directed and Yochanan Marcellino produced both videos for City of Peace Films and City of Peace Media.
Waller's "As For Me and My House" video is a YouTube favorite, with more than 350,000 views. The song, the title track from his third album, is featured on the Top 10 Courageous movie soundtrack. Waller also wrote and performed the theme song featured in the movie Fireproof, entitled "While I'm Waiting."
Spicer's "A Thousand Generations" is featured on his current CD, Olive Tree, which was named Best Instrumental Album of the Year at the 2011 Covenant Awards, presented annually by the Gospel Music Association of Canada.
"With City of Peace Films and City of Peace Media being just two and a half years old, it's truly a great honor to have received our first two Dove Award nominations, both for Short Form Music Video of the Year," says Founder, President and CEO of City of Peace Films and City of Peace Media, Yochanan Marcellino. "We applaud the great work and creativity of Dustin Marcellino on both of these music videos, the only director in the field of eight music video finalists to receive two nominations."
Dustin Marcellino, who currently is directing the upcoming faith-based motion picture, The Identical, for City of Peace Films (recently featured in The Hollywood Reporter) was excited to hear about his double nomination.
"It was encouraging to receive this news, as both of these videos are heavily based on Scripture and have deep spiritual and Biblical content," says Dustin Marcellino. "Joshua 24:15 is the theme of 'As For Me And My House' and Deuteronomy 7:9 is the theme of 'A Thousand Generations.'"
"'As For Me And My House' by John Waller is the foundational video for John's ministry as the title track to his current CD and current single. Sean Spicer's music video, 'A Thousand Generations,' featuring Tilly Cryar on vocals, is from his Olive Tree CD, which is already an award-winning project as a three-time Covenant Award recipient," says Yochanan Marcellino.
Waller and Spicer are both nominated in a category that also includes "7x70" by Chris August, with director Evan Kaufmann and producer Randy Peterson for Detail Film and Fervent Records; "Crazy Love" by Hawk Nelson, with director/producer John Reuben for BEC Recordings; "Feed The Machine" by Red, with directors the Erwin Brothers and producer Dan Atchison for Alabama Production Group and Essential Records; "I Lift My Hands" by Chris Tomlin, with director/producer Nathan Corrona for Dustbrand Films and EMI CMG; "Miracles" by Newsboys, with director/producer TK McKamy for Revolution Pictures and Inpop Records; and "You Are More" by Tenth Avenue North, with director Wes Edwards and producer Drew Langer for Ruckus Films and Reunion Records.
Nominations were announced Feb. 22 in Atlanta. The 43rd Annual Dove Awards, produced by the Gospel Music Association, will be held April 19 at Atlanta's Fox Theatre.
Waller's As For Me And My House and Spicer's Olive Tree are available through City of Peace Media and Provident Distribution.
City of Peace Media has announced that "As For Me And My House," the powerful song from John Waller featured on the Top 10 Courageous movie soundtrack, will go for adds Friday, January 20, as the popular recording artist's next radio single. The song, the title track from Waller's third album, already is garnering accolades, including an enthusiastic endorsement from Alex Kendrick, writer and director of Courageous.
"When I first heard John Waller's song based on Joshua 24:15, I had chills! I listened to it three times in a row and then began sharing it with friends," says Kendrick, who also stars in Courageous, the 2011 independent film from the makers of Fireproof and Facing the Giants, which challenges fathers to model God's values for their children.
Waller, who caught the attention of the world with his song "While I'm Waiting" from the No. 1 independent film of 2008, Fireproof, continues to boldly proclaim the Word of God in his latest single. Using Joshua 24:15 as the foundation, the song and the companion video confronts the "spirit of this age" (Acts 17:22-23), and the idols of money and power, sexual immorality, powerless religion, pornography, and drugs and alcohol while providing God's solution: "As For Me And My House, we shall serve the Lord" (Joshua 24:15).
"For me, this is a long-awaited release, but I believe God's perfect timing. "As For Me and My House" is our family's declaration for 2012 and for life," Waller says. "I'm believing the message of the song is going to impact many lives."
The title track, offered as a free download to those who sign the Joshua 24:15 Declaration at Waller's website, highlights the album's theme of declaring our allegiance to God and restoring the focus to family values. The music video version of "As For Me and My House" has more than 298,000 views on YouTube so far. To sign the Declaration and to view the video, visit johnwallermusic.com.
"I asked that it be included on the soundtrack CD of our recent film Courageous, as the lyrics and message aligned perfectly with the plot and theme of the movie," says Kendrick. "I did this because I can tell that God gave John this song. It drips with power and sincerity. It is the kind of song that people will rally around and use as a banner for their faith and convictions.

John Waller, the popular recording artist who touched the world with his song "While I'm Waiting" from the hit film Fireproof, recently appeared on TBN's Praise The Lord with host Russ Taff where Waller shared the behind-the-scene details of his latest song, "Heaven Just Got Better."
During the interview with Taff, Waller discussed the recent birth of his son, Josiah Emmanuel, and the death of his mother less than 24 hours later. Waller also performed songs from his current CD, As For Me And My House, as well as debuting "Heaven Just Got Better."
"I wrote 'Heaven Just Got Better' a couple of years ago, but never did anything with the song," says Waller. "After my mother's death, I went back to the song and finished it as a tribute to my mom. It was as if God was holding the song for just this time," he adds.
"I never thought a perfect place like Heaven could get any better," he says. "Now I know it is."
As the segment ended, Waller said prayers over the studio audience, as well as the TV viewers, using Jewish blessings from the Old Testament, including the Aaronic Benediction from Numbers 6:22-27.
"It was truly an honor to be interviewed by the legendary Russ Taff. He was one of my favorite singers growing up," Waller says of his experience at the show. "It was particularly special to sing 'Heaven Just Got Better' for the first time," he adds.

John Waller, the popular recording artist who touched the world with the extraordinary song, "While I'm Waiting" from the motion picture, "Fireproof," has signed with Nashville-based City of Peace Media. Waller's eagerly anticipated enhanced CD, As For Me and My House, is set for a May 3, 2011 release through Provident-Integrity Distribution.
"Beyond the fact that he is an extremely talented and gifted musician, the thing that impresses me most about John is his commitment to the Word of God. It's what he is all about, a "man of the Word," and all his songs are a practical application of the Word of God manifested in song," comments City of Peace Media president Yochanan Marcellino. "I'm honored to have an artist like him on the City of Peace label."
"When I met Yochanan Marcellino at Promise Keepers last year, he immediately understood what I was about and there was a divine connection," says Waller. "I am thrilled to be partnering with City of Peace!"
Waller first captured the attention of the Christian music community as frontman for the pop band According to John. But the talented Georgia native laid his aspirations for a career as a performing artist aside when he and his wife Josee felt led to move to Colorado to help establish a new church. Songs that were birthed in John during that time opened new doors for the worship leader, and his major label debut, The Blessing, introduced Waller's music to a wider audience. His follow-up solo project included the powerful title track, "While I'm Waiting," which was featured prominently on "Fireproof," the No. 1 independent film of 2008.
Waller has long been known for injecting heavy doses of scripture into his lyrics, and the songs on As For Me and My House are no exception.
"Hiding God's Word in my heart has impacted every area of my life since I began memorizing scripture in my early college days. What has been stored away in my heart just comes out of me when I write," Waller declares. "When people memorize scripture and sing the truth of God's Word, it changes their lives forever."
John Waller's As For Me and My House is available on City of Peace Media and distributed through Provident-Integrity Distribution. For more information on John Waller and As For Me and My House, visit johnwallermusic.com or cityofpeace.com.

John Waller, the celebrated artist behind the FIREPROOF movie anthem “While I’m Waiting,” is set to release his sophomore solo album this week, titled While I’m Waiting, in stores nationwide Tuesday, April 7. The fan-favorite song gained instant popularity after appearing prominently in FIREPROOF, the No. 1 independent movie of 2008, and became a focal point of the film as the only song played in its entirety. The theatrical release’s 5 million viewers’ response to the song was immediate, pushing “While I’m Waiting” into the Top 5 on iTunes Christian Songs chart, with 63,000 downloads of the song to date.
Waller’s breakout song has hit a collective nerve and fans are clamoring for more. The album includes a “FIREPROOF Remix” version of “While I’m Waiting,” featuring audio clips from the movie. A new music video for “While I’m Waiting” incorporates powerful movie scenes, and is now streaming online at www.johnwallermusic.com. In addition, a bonus FIREPROOF Soundtrack sampler CD is packaged with Waller’s new album, which contains the original movie score and 3 songs featured in the film: “Brighter Days” by Leeland, “Love Is Not a Fight” by Warren Barfield and “You Belong to Me” by Grey Holiday.
With the release of his sophomore project, While I’m Waiting, the Georgia-based singer/songwriter delivers an eleven-song collection that overflows with a message of trusting God, even during those painfully long seasons of waiting.
Waller says, “The important thing to remember while we are waiting on God is to not just wait, but to actively wait. Serve, worship, and be faithful with what you have, where you are…even while you wait.”
Declaring the Word of God to be true has become something of a trademark for Waller – so much so that he has coined the term “declaration songs” to describe much of his music.
“Many contemporary worship songs are vertical and are appropriately directed toward God,” he explains. “But I believe there is also a need for horizontal worship songs that are designed to build up the Body of Christ. The Word of God says, ‘You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.’ My calling is to go deeper into God’s Word and to let that truth set me free. My job is to put that truth into songs, and put those songs into the mouths of the people. I could write about topical issues and put a catchy hook in it, but that’s not eternal. The Word of God is the only thing that lasts forever.
Waller adds, “When people sing the truth of God’s Word, it changes their lives. I don’t know anything that is more powerful.”
