Give Us Rest (A Requiem Mass in C [The Happiest of All Keys]) sold over 50,000 copies in its first week making it the No. 2 record in the country behind Adele’s 21, and the No. 1 new album on the charts. With a nearly constant No. 1 hold on the iTunes ® Overall Albums chart, Give Us Rest offers David Crowder*Band the highest chart and sales debut of their over decade long career.
“We have been really happy to hear and read the responses to the album,” remarks Crowder. “You make a thing and you hope it will mean something and be useful to someone else and to see such a positive reaction so early, well, we thought we couldn’t be happier about it. But then, when I got a phone call letting me know that we were debuting at number two on Billboard, I think, as far as memory serves, I pointed to the sky, yelled something, then un-ironically, with the purest of heart, totally Tebowed right in the middle of the street I had unknowingly wandered into.”
In what has been hailed an “epic,” “captivating” and “most artistic” final effort from the GRAMMY ® nominees, reviews have applauded the 34 track, double-disc album and full career of David Crowder*Band.
"One of Christian music's least predictable bands closes out a decade-long career. The group's final album, patterned after a Requiem Mass, contains nearly two hours of music. Give Us Rest's 34 tracks encompass raw recordings and elaborately constructed arrangements ranging from U2-like worship songs to pseudo-choral music to bluegrass-y gospel hymns." - USA Today
"Their most artistic project… Complexity, and simplicity. Deliberately arranging sound, emotion, intellect and vision. Doing more than pulling out a set of songs and putting them on a CD. DC*B’s contribution was also their journey. Give Us Rest is their coup de grace. Well done, David Crowder*Band, it’s time to take your rest." - Worship Leader
"It's an honest plea from a man who almost single-handedly redefined modern worship for the 21st century, which certainly was no easy task. But before stepping away from the microphone for good, Crowder showed exactly why he and his bandmates are in need of a rest, by creating an exhaustingly epic, double-disc album…. Give Us Rest sounds exactly as a ‘final album’ should. It is a Mount Everest of worship rock albums, never to be topped. For over a decade, David Crowder created some of the most creatively inspired worship music in the world, and now he deserves his rest." - ChristianityToday.com
"A captivating offering… the band’s crowning achievement in a career of exuberant, cerebral accomplishments… In the end, joy becomes the lasting note of this album, and perhaps the legacy of the career of this gone-too-soon band." - Crosswalk.com
"From track one to thirty-four it is nothing short of an amazing experience. 5 Stars" - JesusFreakHideout.com
"an epic blaze of musical glory… a memento of its career" – watchgmctv.com
Give Us Rest contains nearly two hours of music constructed in the outline of a Requiem Mass. The track listing even reads like a liturgy. It begins with The Entrance (or, the introit), a segment of three songs, then segues into The Plea (or, the kyrie), a section of three more songs, and then The Plight (or, the gradual and the tract), a sequence of six songs, and so on, all the way through The Absolution (or, the libere me and the paridisum), a string of six tracks to close out the album—and their 12-year run.
David Crowder*Band gave their final performance at Passion 2012 in front of over 42,000 college students, live at the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta. “Let Me Feel You Shine” is the first single from the Give Us Rest recording, and was the most added at AC Radio upon its release. About the track, Crowder remarks, “I don’t think I have written as personal of a song as this one (‘Let Me Feel You Shine’). For me, all of the experience of closing this chapter, of looking ahead and trusting, is in this song. I know all of us are in these moments where life twists and turns, and you don’t see what’s coming, but you feel God’s leading and you have to jump out and take the risk and see what it means to be a person of faith.”

Nashville, Tenn. Jul. 23, 2009… GMA Dove winners and former MSN “Artist of the Year” David Crowder*Band will release their fifth studio album, Church Music, on Sept. 22 from sixstepsrecords and EMI CMG Label Group.
Aptly titled, the band hopes their self-produced recording will prompt listeners to recognize the continual evolvement of music within the church as well as transport them into an awareness that we exist within the very presence of God, therefore allowing Church Music to happen anywhere.
“I hope this album serves as a reminder of music within the Church, of its richness and its broadness, and the tension that exists in using elements of cultural language to express our collective experience and also still remain a transformative presence that is set apart,” admits band front man David Crowder.
To add to the uniqueness of the album, the 17 songs on the album play continuously from beginning to end with one song blending into the next. In order to accomplish this, the band poured an immense amount of work into the process, sequencing the tracks before anything had been recorded so keys and tempos could be finalized. The result: 73 full minutes of music – 17 tracks, which ably stand alone, while at the same time seamlessly join together.
“We asked ourselves, if we, as a band, were to throw our arms around the popular music of our time, here in 2009, how would we do it,” says Crowder. “We started with the track. We programmed the album first, forcing ourselves to write from the track up, and then, after the song emerged, we dismantled it, replacing much of the programming with live instrumentation but leaving the fundamentals that the song emerged from intact.”
The band’s first single received a warm welcome on iTunes ® capturing the No. 1 spot on the Christian and Gospel Singles chart the week it was released. “How He Loves” just debuted at No. 26 on the AC Indicator chart.

albums of the past and artists such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan and Hank Williams. The
album further garnered an iTunes No. 1, debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard Top
200 and received GMA Music Dove Award honors for Best Rock/Contemporary Album
and Best Rock/Contemporary Song (“Here is Our King”). Featured
at the enormously popular collegiate Passion gatherings, the

(NASHVILLE, Tenn.) July
11, 2008— sixstepsrecords’ David Crowder*Band will release the REMEDY
Club Tour CD/DVD to retail on Aug. 19. The band’s first ever full-length
DVD features five and a half hours of content, including a behind the scenes
tour documentary, song demonstrations hosted by each member of the Crowder band
and chord/lyric subtitles in addition to 16 songs recorded live on last fall’s
best-selling “REMEDY Club Tour.”
“This
tour was so amazing for us,” says David Crowder. “Many of our beliefs converged
regarding music’s role in the church and the unexpected spaces our faith can
function in. We believe that there is no space that is not sacred, that every
second is lived in the very presence of God, and we wanted people to experience
this reality, which, lead us to transporting these songs into places perhaps
unexpected. The response was fantastic. To be in these historic Rock-and-Roll
venues and watch the story of God come alive night after night was
unbelievable. And then, to have captured that on tape, to have a document
composed of these magical evenings is just ridiculous.”
The
fall 2007 “REMEDY Club Tour” boasted 19 sold-out dates, and its “Surely We Can
Change Something” campaign collected thousands of towels and socks for local
shelters, while encouraging attendees to “be the Remedy” in their local
communities. Fans can now bring that experience home, enjoying a full 85-minute
concert recorded at both the New York City and Atlanta tour stops. The concert
will premier for one-night-only at select movie theatres nationwide in
partnership with AEG Network Live. Additional details are forthcoming.

“We are so excited about the latest David Crowder*Band project, Remedy, music that once again reshapes what expressions of worship can and should be,” says sixstepsrecords founder Louie Giglio. “Classic Crowder, Remedy is inventive and fresh, with all the colors and textures Crowder listeners have come to expect. But, Remedy is much more than a collection of songs. It is a call to action, engaging every one of us for a purpose so much greater than ourselves. All of us at sixsteps/EMI CMG are thrilled to get behind both Remedy’s music and mission as God uses this project to marshall change in a world He is eager to restore.”

Further solidifying its unofficial title as Christian music’s most innovative band, David Crowder Band continues to receive high marks for REMEDY:
“…David Crowder Band continues to break the conventions of worship music …[m]ost worship albums offer music as a praise response to glorify our Creator. Remedy is more an engaging pop/rock album designed to spark worship because of who our Creator is. When the music is this good, worship comes naturally.” —ChristianityToday.com
“The David Crowder Band holds a high place in the progression of modern worship music, and the band’s latest album, Remedy, continues that fine tradition. It’s a roller coaster ride of electronica and dance beats, traditional acoustic and electric guitar, and heartfelt ballads …There’s a reason this band is one of the most popular in Christian music.” —Group Magazine
“The David Crowder Band is helping to galvanize modern worship pop-rock music that could go down in a club as well as in a church. And the band’s fourth studio effort takes the next step in that direction.” —Grand Rapids Press
“The group combines electronic programming with acoustic and electric instrumentation, alongside quirky though relatable lyrics, bathed in praise but avoiding cliché. …Remedy…bridg[es] the vertical direction of yesteryear with a progressive new means of presentation in both spiritual content and sound.” —CCM Magazine
“‘The Glory of It All’ concludes with David singing, “We will never be the same,” and I believe him. ‘Can You Feel It?’ insists a scarce-seeming God is really there, and it’s not just the electronic bells and whistles swirling into a rocker that makes me feel it. There’s something more …There is a wonder to the music of Remedy …After all, ‘The whole world’s about to change.’” —HM Magazine

“We’ve been really intentional about what kind of space we wanted this music to enter into,” says David Crowder. “And for us, this tour presents opportunity to tear down walls that are drawn between what is sacred and what is secular, a chance to reorient space where corporate worship would be unexpected. If we are reading the gospel right, once the veil is ripped, God is everywhere. He is accessible in every space, and there’s not one moment that’s not a spiritual moment in our lives.”

After the David Crowder Band was voted MSN’s Artist of the Year 2006, MSN noted, “They've single-handedly redefined what contemporary Christian music should sound like…” David Crowder Band lives up to that billing and follows up 2005’s critically acclaimed and commercially successful A Collision with what promises to be one of 2007’s best offerings, REMEDY. The band’s fourth full-length studio album releases September 25.
The album’s first single and the band’s fastest charting single to date, “Everything Glorious” moved up to No. 12 this week on R&R’s Christian AC Monitored chart and cracked the Top 10 on its Christian AC Indicator chart, only seven weeks since its add date. The song was first performed live earlier this year at Passion ’07 in Atlanta and has been a set list favorite throughout the band’s touring schedule this spring and summer. Other highlights on the album include a special guest appearance by the “Motor City Madman” Ted Nugent on “We Won’t Be Quiet,” the energetic and driving “Neverending,” and the synth-laden dance track “Can You Feel It?”
“The David Crowder Band continues to recast the modern worship conversation with language and musical texture that affirm our shared values while energizing our expressions with uniqueness and creativity,” says Louie Giglio, sixstepsrecords founder and popular speaker/author. “Remedy is a beautiful and redemptive leap forward in what has already become a storied journey for this band. Crowder's latest offering is laden with the potential to engage the listener with worship that transforms the world.”
Always rearranging the norm, David Crowder Band gave fans an inside look at the recording process for the new album in the spring, offering an eight-webcam view of The Barn, a recording facility built by the David Crowder Band in the legendary barn of Dr Pepper fame. Fans were given unprecedented access to the recording process with cameras left running 24 hours a day. In addition to watching the recording in real time, fans were given early hints of what is coming through video blogs posted by band leader David Crowder.
David Crowder states, “We perceive music as a means of empathizing with one another and enunciating something common among us in our experiences of life and faith. Our band’s latest musical offering is for us the next available step in this journey; musically, lyrically, and thematically it is the sound of one foot coming down firmly in the present while the other simultaneously rises, exiting the space previously occupied, throwing our weight in a forward direction of momentum and consequence toward whatever lies ahead.”
Remedy picks up right where A Collision - the universally acclaimed 21 track, 73 minute epic that made everyone’s Top Ten list – left off. The last line A Collision offered an apology of sorts and a bit of foreshadowing:
“And I’m trying to make you sing from inside where you believe. Like it’s something that you need, like it means everything. And I’m trying to make you feel that this is for real, that life is happening. That it means everything. I’m just trying to make you sing.”
REMEDY is a continuation of this effort, offering ten tracks that are arguably the most accessible and pop centric of the band’s career while at the same time diving deep into the theology of worship and what it means to be a part of the remedy that people around the world seek on a day to day basis. Whether it is a cure for AIDS, bringing an end to extreme poverty or the seemingly endless violence and aggression around the world, the need for change is evident. On this album, David Crowder Band addresses the obvious need for an ultimate remedy, yet knows that words and songs can do little to create change. They are mindful however that in recent history, songs and popular music acted as a catalyst for such change and gave voice to movement. With REMEDY, the hope is to inspire action.
Plans are in the works to tie the fall tour to the idea of providing a remedy, finding a way to connect fans in each city to the needs in their own community and around the world. The REMEDY Club Tour kicks off October 3rd, one week after the record hits shelves. The REMEDY Club Tour takes the band along with openers Phil Wickham and The Myriad from New Orleans through Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, New York City, Atlanta and all major markets in between. (Full tour schedule below)
David Crowder Band has captured the attention of such significant media as the New York Times, CNN and FOX News as part of the cable network’s coverage of Creation East. The band has toured with Michael W. Smith, Third Day and Mercy Me including a headlining tour with Mute Math. The first Christian artist to be named MSN.com’s Artist of the Year as well as foster a partnership with M-Audio/Propellerhead’s Reason software, Crowder is also the namesake behind premiere guitar maker Tom Anderson Guitarworks’s Crowdster Acoustic. Despite the success, David Crowder Band makes it a point to get back to University Baptist Church on most Sundays, a church they helped found on the campus of Baylor University in Waco, TX. The band is also featured at the enormously popular collegiate Passion gatherings. The band’s leader David Crowder is further an acclaimed author, having penned two books, including his acclaimed, highly personal, Everybody Wants to Go to Heaven, But Nobody Wants to Die: Or (The Eschatology of Bluegrass).

Looking ahead to the September 25 release of its fourth studio album, The Remedy, David Crowder*Band is sending fans on a treasure hunt for sneak preview details about the new set at seven summer music festivals around the country. No surprise if you know how the eclectic artist works. In an online Myspace post, the MSN 2006 Artist of the Year act writes, "summertime: sunshine, lemonade, music festivals, treasure hunts... we have left something for you, a gift. So, pay careful attention." Remaining festivals participating in the "search for The Remedy" include Cornerstone (June 27; Bushnell, IL), Creation Northeast (June 28; Mt. Union, PA), Sonshine (July 12; Willmar, MN), Creation Northwest (July 28; George, WA), and Spirit West Coast (August 2; Monterey, CA).
Yesterday, the hearitfirst.com team was fortunate enough to hear David Crowder speak about his new album Remedy, which
releases September 25th. Crowder related how the band strives to articulate faith through their music and also how they use
music to express what their community has been through in recent years. Community is ever present in the world of David
Crowder Band. Their previous album, "A Collision," dealt with themes of mortality at a time when they had lost members of
their closest community and now Remedy celebrates the idea that individuals can come together to create change in their local
community as well as across the world.
Crowder acknowledged the fact that many corporations are now jumping on board with social change - and pointed out that at
the forefront of social movement should be the church. He noted that for the first time in history, society and the church have
the same goal: massive social change. (For example, ministries go to Africa for relief...and now... American Idol also goes to
Africa). While corporations and organizations are striving to make a global impact, there is no global entity that can
accomplish change across the world - EXCEPT for the church which reaches all corners of the earth and in theory, SHOULD
have the goal of enacting change.
Using music to provoke massive change is Remedy's goal and it's clear that Crowder hopes their latest album will present
ideas that inspire the Church to come together to enact change. The opening track of the album is actually the title track and
the lyrics present Christ as the Remedy while the closing track is "Surely We Can Change," declaring that "all the love in the
world is right here among us / we must choose what our hands will do."
The idea that love is among us is important to Crowder's message. He is embarking on the Remedy Club Tour, which finds him
leading worship in unlikely venues. The band is booked in clubs across America, including House of Blues venues. "Every
space is sacred," Crowder asserted. He expressed that God is everywhere and "church" can happen anywhere - even a bar.
He is very excited to get on the road and lead worship in such atypical venues. To keep the spirit of being the remedy, ways to
get involved in social change will be made available at each show and concert-goers will be able to immediately contribute to

Surely we've learned to expect the unexpected with David Crowder. Ted Nugent makes a guest appearance on the record,
playing on a track called "We Won't Be Quiet." Nugent's prolific electric guitar skills bring a very literal aspect to the song.
Guest appearances have marked Crowder's projects in the past, often lending very distinct and unique style to his
albums.Sonically, Crowder says this album is a collection of all the sounds they have used throughout their many albums.
"The whole world's about to change," one lyric states. We can only hope that the Church and others who may stumble upon
this record are inspired to createchange in local and global communities. Hopefully Remedy really WILL be a remedy.
