The little city of Seneca, South Carolina is home to the alternative/Christian rock band known as NEEDTOBREATHE. The band was formed in 2002 during a chance meeting between brothers William "Bear" Rinehart (lead vocals, guitar, piano) and Bryant "Bo" Rinehart (guitar) as well as Seth Bolt on bass. Touring members include Josh Lovelace (keyboards) and Randall Harris (drums). After practicing their trade in local venues, the band signed two record deals to Atlantic Records and Sparrow Records in 2005. After the this momentous step, the band members immediately headed to the UK to start recording their first studio album entitled Daylight, which was released in April of 2006. While the album was met with critical acclaim, it would be the band's second album that would ignite their career. Recording for their sophomore album, The Heat, began in late 2006, and would see the light of day in August of 2007. The album was a critical success, and launched the act further into the stratosphere. The Heat was nominated for a GMA Dove Award for Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year in 2008 alongside the hit single "Signature of Divine (Yahweh)", which was nominated for Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year. In 2009, another song, "Washed by the Water", from the same album would go on to win the GMA Dove Award in the same song category. Over the next five years, the band established itself as one of the premiere Christian rock bands in the country. Its next three albums, The Outsiders (2009), The Reckoning (2011) and Rivers in the Wasteland (2014), were all critical and commercial successes. The band would continue to amass more hardware with nine GMA Dove Awards in a 4 year period starting in 2010, even winning Group of the Year for 3 consecutive years.
