The Moral Decay in America: How Far Have We Gone?

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.--That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their safety and happiness.” – Declaration of Independence

This Declaration was made on July 4, 1776 to emancipate us from Britain.  Our country was done with the King of Britain and the authority that he was misusing.  This declaration was signed by many honorable men including, Thomas Jefferson and John Hancock.  These brave men understood how decadent England had become and yet our country is becoming more decadent each year.  Let us dissect parts of this Declaration and see where we may be headed.

1. “We Hold these Truths”

This statement clearly implies that everything proceeding is indeed truth and should not be considered anything but fact.  Here is the first stepping stone in a long line of problems.  Many people do not believe or accept all of this declaration.

2. “Endowed by their Creator”

It is clear that this country is divided on the belief that one God can exist.  Many people want to be God.  Some believe in no God at all.  Some believe in God but do not follow the Bible.  Some follow parts of the Bible and do not believe in God.  Some believe in multiple gods.  Some follow the One, true God.

3. “Certain unalienable rights”

Unalienable is defined as “Incapable of being repudiated (denied or rejected).” (websters-online-dictionary.org)  If our government abolishes the right to bear arms, they are in violation of this because the Constitution of the United States guarantees us that right.

4. “Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness”

Murderers do not accept this.  Abortion doctors do not execute this.  Thieves do not uphold this.  Bullies do not believe this.

5. “That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

Our government clearly does not care about the governed (the American people) by some of the laws that have been passed.  Rowe vs. Wade would never have ended like it did had the American people had a voice on the matter.  Look at how many precious little ones have been executed since that trial!  The total number of abortions since Rowe vs. Wade is over 39,000,000!!! (nrlc.org)  Where is the right for the unborn to have LIFE, liberty and the pursuit of happiness?

6. “That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to affect their Safety and Happiness.”

We have the right as American citizens to voice our opinions to our local senators and house members to get laws passed that will better our country.  If our government becomes destructive, we have the right to abolish it and start anew.  We have the right to be safe and happy.

Conclusion

If we stay in the direction we are headed, it is only going to get worse.  If “hate crimes” legislation ever gets passed to the fullest extent, our pastors will be put in jail.  The more comfortable we are with abortion, the easier it will be to adopt laws of euthanasia.  If killing babies is okay, then why not allow for the murder of the disabled or the elderly?  Our country is in dire need of a Savior.  Women are sexually assaulted every day.  Our children are being bullied at school and over the internet.  The elderly are neglected in hospitals and self-help homes.  Many are misusing welfare so they do not have to work, while the hardworking citizens pay taxes to support them.  Corporations are cutting back on benefits and pensions so the “higher ups” can make more money.  The list goes on and on.  All of these problems come about from one problem, SELF.  The rapists think about their needs.  The women getting abortions (most of them) think about their lifestyle that they need to maintain.  The CEO’s and VP’s of companies think about their bank accounts instead of the workers that make them money.  If the United States of America stays on this path I fear that God will take His Almighty hand of protection off of it like He has so many times before, such as in Sodom and Gomorrah.  We all have the choice to live for “self” or for God.  It is obvious where the choice for “self” has got us, nowhere but chaos.  Choose God today and make a better difference for the world!
