Rap artist, songwriter, poet, and multi-talented musician, Jonathan Michael Russo, also known by many as "j-rus", has taken the Metro Detroit area by storm with his lyrics and his clever, unique, and uplifting message of hope. He desires to communicate a message of encouragement that will uplift the soul and prepare each individual for lifeâ?Ts journey." People of every background, creed, denomination, race and culture face the seemingly insurmountable pressures of daily life. Jonathan's music reaches into every man's world to provide hope in the midst of those pressures. His greatest desire is to catapult young men and women alike into their God given destiny.
In August of 2004, the launching pad of Jonathan's musical career was established with the release of his first three song demo track entitled "Get Up." The completed product was created, designed, and engineered by Eminem's sound engineer, Jason Khuen, with help from Evan Jones. Jonathan composes his own beats, music, and lyrics, while Mr. Khuen compiles it all together to create a musical masterpiece. As of late May 2005, he has sold over 600 demo tracks. Jonathan is currently in the recording process of a twelve track cd that will be released in the fall of 2005.
Jonathan's schedule has overflowed with engagements spread throughout the Metro Detroit city limits. May 2005, "j-rus" opened for the JEFF DEYO band at the "Rush Youth Encounter" in Oakland Twp., MI. He anticipates the summer months of 2005 to be powerful.
"Someone once told me, 'never despise small beginnings.' I really took that to heart as I found myself at times rapping in front of 10 to 15 people in public schools. I feel as though God has called me to truly impact thousands upon thousands of people's lives. My undying passion is to put "j-rus" cds into the hands of scores of young people all over the known earth, depositing into each young person a sense of hope, vision, and destiny. I believe that now is the time for "j-rus" to break out of the box and transform the face of secular society as we know it."
