In the Fall of 2003, Brandon Collins was called by God to begin using his musical talents to lead others to Jesus. After watching Jeremy Camp and Seventh Day Slumber perform at the Creation East Festival that summer, his eyes were opened to how effectively God could use music to bring people to Christ.

A few months later, shortly after completing several original songs, Brandon was asked to perform at a local church for a youth conference. So, he called up his good friend Stephen King, and invited him to play rhythm guitar. Steve and Brandon had played previously in the High School Talent shows together, so they connected instantly.

With winter nearing its end, Brandon and Steve were playing local gigs along with their trusty drum machine, "The Dave." Fortunately, Brandon's younger brother, Kevin, did some re-evaluating of his life goals, and made God his new number one focus. Only several days later, he decided to begin playing the drums instead of following his dreams to join the military.

Now that they had a complete band, all they needed was a name. One day, in psychology class, Brandon was listening to a lecture about mental awareness. The term "Vigilant," meaning to "be aware," was used many times, and it grabbed Brandonbs attention. He thought that it would be perfect for the band, because their music was focused on hitting their listeners head on with reality, and bringing awareness to the many lies our culture feeds us.

Through 2004, Vigilant played various local shows, and by the beginning of 2005, they were starting to get opening spots for some bigger names in the Christian Industry. Vigilant has opened for virtuoso pianist David McClintock, Falling Up, Chris Rice, and Avalon.
