Lee Asbury was born in Pittsburgh, PA, 1975, and music was bread into him. Both of his grandfatherbs played the trumpet, but with different musical styles. One played in Big Bands and the other played the New Orleans jazz scene. It was kind of a dark/light contrast. After a short stint with the trombone in elementary and middle school, Lee decided that the guitar would more suite his style.
At about the age of fourteen, he started to hone his chops on what was the heavy metal music scene at the time. Bands like Iron Maiden and Metallica were common fare. Lee was not brought up in a Christian home, and was clueless to the destruction that his lifestyle choices would bring. He continued to play in several garage bands in high school and even into his twenties. All the while, living however he wanted.
Eventually his behavior would lead to disaster. After one too many late night gigs at the bar, Leebs wife proceeded to pack up her things and move out, taking their young daughter. Sadly, this is what it took for Lee to finally take a good hard look at his life and the choices he had made. The good news is, the trials that they both suffered during that period of time eventually led them both to Christ. And, today they continue to grow together in their walk with Jesus.
Sometime in 2004, Lee began playing in the worship band at the church his family was attending. He still was a baby Christian and knew little about the Contemporary Christian music scene. He soon formed a strong bond with the two worship leaders there, and was encouraged to write and play his songs to the congregation for worship.
Today, Lee continues to write music while working his full-time job as a city bus driver for the Port Authority. He loves God, and loves to worship Him in song.
