| Having performed in venues all over the world and recorded seven albums with total sales of 23 000 units, Nathan Tasker's mission still remains the same – to use music to connect people to the reality of God’s love. The "greatest story ever told" is an integral part of Nathan Tasker's story.
Recently named 2006 “Artist of the Year” and awarded “Song of The Year” by the Australian Christian Music Charts, Nathan is Australia’s premier Christian Artist. The past two years have seen Nathan’s star rise to the top of Australian CCM, with six top ten radio singles, including three consecutive number ones and nation-wide press and media coverage.
And at the center of it all is the timeless message of God’s love for mankind. "I am always humbled by and thankful for the fact that God's love for me is not based upon my performance, but on the death of His own perfect Son," says Tasker. Armed with impressive guitar skills and engaging honesty he is determined to get his message out to people via energetic live performances as well as through his albums.
His current album, Must Be More (2005), was produced in Nashville by a team heralded as the top of the industry. This included producer Charlie Peacock (who has worked with artists Switchfoot, Nicole Nordeman & Audio Adrenaline), along with feature artists Steve Mason (Jars of Clay) and Matt Slocum (Sixpence None the Richer).
“I met with the production team [which also included Out of the Grey's Scott Dente and engineer Richie Biggs] and it was quite incredible to work with them on my songs. They are exceptionally talented people - it inspired me to be more creative.” Needless to say Must Be More shows a dedication to quality songwriting, musicianship and production.
As a performing and recording artist, Tasker has what he refers to as "a commitment to excellence". He is determined to give of his best at all times whether that be on a stage or in a studio.
He also takes his responsibility as a role model for others very seriously. "There is a need for people to respond to truth in a way that isn't just about selling CDs. It's about understanding life; it's about engaging with a God who is real, a God who wants us to know him. And I want to be the role model for that".
In concert and on disc, Nathan Tasker emerges as a storyteller. His songs cover many aspects of the human condition. But he is more than just a detached observer; he is an active and vulnerable participant.
“The new album, “Must Be More”, represents me writing and sharing very honestly, without inhibitions. I have done a lot of reading about the enormity of the relationship we are in with God, and that's reflected on this CD.”
As Nathan commented, “my best songs are still inside me, they are still coming out”. And we look forward to watching and listening as new songs, new ideas and new lyrics are made available for the inspiration and encouragement of believers and non-believers alike.... |
