D. Watts

After six years of fronting popular cover bands in Birmingham, Alabama and releasing her first album, My Own Way, D. Watts is making a brand new start, literally and metaphorically. Her sophomore album, Brand New Start, was released in February 2007. No longer is she belting out Janis Joplin tunes until the crack of dawn, but pouring out her heart and soul with a Christ-centered message to the world. Watts and Producer/Co-writer Ben Trexel are making their debut on the Christian music scene and are planning on staying as long as God decides to use them. The album is described as, “…ten original songs from the edgy rock camp, with heavy classic rock leanings,” says Kevan Breitinger of Suite 101. “Watts’ throaty, heartfelt vocals and Trexel’s unique guitar-oriented production incite the listener to keep the album in the cd changer for days on end.” This new start for Watts is more than just an album, however. She grew up in a loving Christian home with her father leading worship and her mother with the piano accompaniment. She, herself, was singing backup, playing trumpet, and shaking the tambourine each Sunday morning. As a teenager, though, she found herself, like so many others, making choices that reflected the world’s ways and not the God’s. This led to two decades of living in the fast lane that left her emotionally and spiritually desolate. Fortunately, God is merciful and forgiving (Lam. 3:22) and as Watts began writing the songs for the second album, she leaned more and more upon her Savior, Christ Jesus, to guide her way. Now she “Rocks the Message” that the choices we make daily will dictate the kind of life we lead and encourages her audience to make the most important choice there is: making Jesus Christ Lord of your life and following Him. D. Watts has played over 400 events during her career and carries a mesmerizing, energetic presence on stage that will leave the audience impacted in a positive way. During 2006, she has been a part of the line up at Workplay Theatre, the Birmingham Chicks Rock Fest, the Whistlestop Festival, and several local Christian events. She has been featured on WBHM’s “Tapestry” radio program, in the Atlanta Christian Family magazine, on Good Day Alabama on Fox 6 News, and in the Cornerstone News. ...
