Like Jonathan have been a work in progress for almost two decades. It started with the life-long friendship of brothers Steve and Jeff Smith with Dan Prout. With their involvement in their church youth group band, the three developed a spirit of community with each other, as well as a passion for music that meant something. Just like Jonathan did with David in the Old Testament, the Ohio-based rock outfit learned to put Gods and each others interests and talents before their own.
The project officially started in the fall of 2003 when they, along with drummer Brad French and producer Jason Lustig, went into a basement in eastern Ohio to record Tomorrow In Its Place, their first cut as Like Jonathan. Fast forward to August 2006. Steve, Jeff, Dan, and Brad rent out a room in a church near Cleveland to record a four track EP entitled "Leave The Ground, again with Lustig in the producers chair. A couple months later, the band would welcome newcomer Mark Dusseau on bass.
Since their inception, Like Jonathan have played shows throughout the midwest, including Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. They have also shared the stage with the likes of Sparrow Records Sanctus Real, and Nashvilles Rob Blackledge.
Some might have seen Like Jonathan perform live, others may have one of their records in their stereo. Either way, you will take away a feeling that their sound communicates something bigger than themselves.
