The idea that a straight line is the quickest distance between two points may be true, but if the journey is as important as the destination then the curves in the road tell as much of the story as the finish line. At 26, Jared Crump has been writing for more than a decade but feels as though he's just turning the page on his career. The release of his Ep "Shot in the Dark" in 2006 was a major turning point for the burgeoning singer/songwriter. Recorded at Spaceway Studios in just four days, Jared employed the talent of Will Hunt to produce the five song collection. "It was great to finally get the sound I've been hunting for and now I'm excited to see what will come next." says Jared who is currently gearing up to record a full length album this fall with bluegrass aficionado Bryan Simpson of Cadillac Sky.
Drawing from the likes of classic rock & roll such as the Allman Brothers Band to bluegrass and gospel music has helped to mold him into the singer/songwriter he is today. When asked about where he gets his inspiration from, Jared responded: "All the guys in the past, ranging from the gospel and soul to rock, when you listened to them even on their records you could tell that they believed it, they really believed in what they were singing about. It's really a motivator for me to give 100% everytime I'm writing or performing"
In a world where music is one of the few things left that can communicate depth and meaning across the gamut and still be entertaining, the honest lyrics and groove based melodies Jared writes will make your body move and brain think all at the same time. He will be on tour throughout the fall and spring with a lineup of musicians like Trace Bundy, Ryan Horne and Cadillac Sky.
