Everyone is blessed with gifts and talents by God. Little did Charles Brock know that God would be calling him to begin this ministry through his youth choir director. Relentless as she was, Charles’ choir director kept calling for him to play piano for their youth choir. One problem, Charles did not know how to play piano. He finally agreed after a full summer of calls begging him to play piano during his freshman year in high school. Charles made himself learn piano, and after four years he was playing piano for weddings, church, recitals, grand openings, and much more. In early January of 2006, Charles met Stevie Ackerman, Alicia Dato, and Karl Kofmehl through a church group in college. Charles began writing music, and found a cool piano line that transformed into “Sing His Name.” Charles knew then that he wanted to start a Contemporary Christian band that had a mission. He called Alicia and Karl to sing vocals and Stevie to play drums. A meeting was held April 19th, 2006 to discuss what the journey, or the “leap of faith”, would entail. All of them knew they wanted to make a difference for people, especially for the transitions people go through. Leap of Faith began writing their own music about their experiences in their faith. Charles knew in order to spread God’s word through their music they had to make a CD and travel. A small album was recorded with 5 original songs, and 4 cover songs. Leap of Faith knew they had their name, the music, and the mission… now they just needed an audience. After a summer of 5 shows, Leap of Faith found that more and more people started to call on them for events. The four decided to take a break from college to see how far Leap of Faith could go. In 2007 they were called for various events like retreats with Linda Schaefer, youth rallies with Mike Pitan and Jesse Manibusan, and opening acts for Michael O’Brien and Ceili Rain. Leap of Faith continued their ministry by traveling to Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, and all over Iowa to get their music and mission out to the people. In May and June of 2007 Leap of Faith decided to record their first professional album with 10 original songs. While they were in the recording studio, they did as many masses and concerts to continue their ministry. “Come and Behold,” their first professional album, was released October 24th, 2007. After the release concert in Maquoketa, Iowa, Charles, Alicia, Stevie, Karl, and new found bassist, Leigh Mather, reveled in the amazing work God had done through them. Leap of Faith’s mission and their ministry continues to inspire all walks of life. Their only hope is to continue doing God’s work through their music and touching as many lives as they can. ...

Our mission is to minister to those taking leaps in their faith-life. Leaps of faith can be some of the most exciting times, but also can be some of the most challenging spiritual times. The best part about God is that He’s always there. Through thick and thin, God is guiding you, praying with you, and listening. Whether you are applying for a new job, getting your first car, filling out paperwork for college applications, moving out of the house, or if you’re at a new school, God is there. It can be hard to believe that God truly is watching over us during the challenging leaps of loosing loved ones, anger, or frustration. Those are the times we need to depend on God the most. It’s easy for us to thank God during the happy times in our lives, but when things get rough, we tend to ask God, “Why?” So, instead we must pray and trust that God has a bigger plan for what our lives will lead. Remember that God is always there. Through the exciting leaps of life and through the hard and stressful leaps as well, God is there. Do not forget that God is just a prayer away. Pray that you can be a light to those who need you. Pray that God can guide you, and work through you.

We are blessed to be a part of our youth group and the youth groups of many other church families. Our youth group started small but is rapidly growing as we continue to bring our ministry and music on Wednesday nights. The music is fun and spirit filled which encourages our youth to have fun praising God. Our ministry is serious but goofy which keeps the youth engaged. We also travel to many other churches to provide our ministry and music for their youth. We are blessed that God is spreading the word about us, allowing us to travel and spread his word to the youth of today's church.
