Matt is thirty years old and incredibly in love with the God of the universe. Matt began feeling God’s call as a worship leader at the age of sixteen when he stepped up as a leader in his youth group as it went through many hard changes. In a few short years, he knew what he would be doing for the rest of his life and has loved every second of the journey.
Matt was born and raised in the huge city of Taft, CA. He began his music career in the summer of 1994 by joining as bass singer for an a cappella group by the name of 4Given. They had the opportunity to travel all over the U.S. and share with people what being a child of God is all about. Matt always took the opportunity to stop and worship with the audience because he has always known that it is one of the most important aspects in a Christian’s life.
In March of 1998, Matt began attending William Jessup University. After a few months, he took on the role as chapel worship leader while traveling every weekend to sing with the guys. It was always an amazing opportunity to see God work through the songs, the heart, and the time taken out to lift up the name of Christ in worship.
In 2001, Matt was married to Lisa. Since then, they have seen God’s hand work more wonders than ever before. In April of 2002, Matt felt God’s call to begin his worship ministry. In September, he began working on “Falling,” his first solo project. Every song written is everything that Matt feels in his relationship with the creator.
In June of 2004 and then in July of 2006, Matt and Lisa were blessed with the birth of their children Abby Marie and Emma Ann. Learning to become good parents has been the focus for most of the time. Nevertheless, Matt has learned a new kind of love apart from loving his wife. A kind of love where you’d give up your own life just so those little ones would never have to feel an ounce of pain. The joy of being a father has been a new driving force in all that Matt has set out to accomplish.
Finally, Matt’s goal in life is simple yet without boundaries: knowing he is nothing without the life changing power of Jesus Christ, or the anointing of the Holy Spirit, he simply wants to be a part in changing unbelievers in an unbelieving world by showing the joy there is in living the “life above any other.”
