5 Of The Best Worship Songs Recorded By Top Artists

Have you thought about what it means to worship God? The Bible provides instructions on how to worship and even when we should worship. Hebrews 12:28-29 states, “Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our "God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 13:15 states, “Through him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge his name.”

I’m grateful for so many worship songs by Christian artists that help me proclaim who God is, His power and thankfulness for Christ’s sacrifice. You can sing words, but proper worship is all about surrendering your heart to God. Once you do that it’s really cool to embrace great worship songs that help inscribe verses on your heart and come to God with reverence.

Here are five of the best worship songs recorded by top artists.

5. “Mighty To Save” by Laura Story from the Album Great God Who Saves

Laura Story is a great story singer and often sings songs with an introduction, middle and end. The story here is that we all need Christ because of who He is and then she beautifully tells us that we just need to surrender.

Favorite Lyrics

Savior, He can move the mountains

My God is Mighty to save

He is Mighty to save

Forever, Author of salvation

He rose and conquered the grave

Jesus conquered the grave

4. “Break Every Chain” by The Digital Age from the Album Evening : Morning

“Break Every Chain” is a huge reminder that we are God’s army and He is raising us up and there is nothing that can’t be accomplished when Christ is working through us. There is power that comes when your heart proclaims “There is power in the name of Jesus”.

Favorite Lyrics

There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
There is power in the name of Jesus
To break every chain
Break every chain
Break every chain

You're the all sufficient sacrifice
So freely given such a price
Bought our redemption
Heaven's gates swing wide

3. “In Christ Alone” by MercyMe from the Album The Worship Sessions

“In Christ Alone” incorporates some unique instruments and coupled with truthful lyrics, it tells the story of Jesus in a beautiful way. This is a great worship song because it’s a fresh take on messages from some familiar older hymns, like “Power in the Blood”.

Favorite Lyrics

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

2. “Revelation Song” by Phillips Craig and Dean from the Album Fearless

Phillips Craig and Dean have such a classic sound in Christian music and have maintained a long history in singing worship songs. “Revelation Song” creates this image of how majestic Christ is and what it’s like for someone to fully realize Jesus’ sacrifice and why He is our King.

Favorite Lyrics

Holy, Holy, Holy
Is the Lord God Almighty
Who was, and is, and is to come,
With all creation I sing:
Praise to the King of Kings!
You are my everything,
And – I - will - adore YOU…

1. “All The Poor and Powerless” by Shane & Shane from the Album The Worship Initiative

Shane & Shane deliver such heartfelt and emotional vocals in “All The Poor and Powerless”. The lyrics are captivating, which is one reason why it’s one of my favorite worship songs! The message of people of all walks of life proclaiming that Jesus is God is bold.

Favorite Lyrics

And all the hearts that are content
And all who feel unworthy
And all who hurt with nothing left
Will know that You are holy

And all will sing out
Hallelujah
And we will cry out
Hallelujah

I pray these songs take you into deep and meaningful worship to God. The Bible never states that we should refrain from worship, so find a favorite song that speaks to your heart and connects with God and keep on singing. Imagine singing “Revelation Song” on your morning commute or “Break Every Chain” as you are stuck in traffic. This may take practice and Satan may try to deter you, but keep at it and you will reap many spiritual blessings. Do you have a favorite worship song?

Article by Elise Cleary

I am a Christian writer and editor that lives in northern Michigan and thoroughly enjoy music, movies, TV shows, books and other entertainment with a Christian focus. My favorite song is "Oceans" by Hillsong United because it reminds me that has big plans for me and everyone else who puts their trust in Him. There are many movies that have impacted my life, but a few include God's Not Dead, The Shunning and Letters to God. When I'm not writing I enjoy watching movies and laughing with my busy toddler and husband.
