7 Christian Musicians You Need To See In Concert

Do you have a Christian music tour planned for this year? There are so many different artists and styles that can be a blessing to see. Whether you are looking for a quiet and intimate worship session or an energizing and impactful concert where you barely sit, there are many different artists to choose from. It’s impossible to go to every single show, so how do you choose? Many times there is a song or two that comes on the radio that was written just for me (I just know it!). Learn who sings the songs and checkout their other music. Part of the fun is belting out the lyrics to my favorite songs surrounded by hundreds of other voices. Chances are if you like a few songs by an artist, you will enjoy their other songs too.

Here are seven Christian musicians you need to see in concert. Each one is different and unique and you’ll be blessed in a different way.

7. Tim Timmons

I highly recommend taking the opportunity to see Tim Timmons in concert this spring while he goes on the David Crowder Neon Steeple Tour. He was a worship leader for 15 years and this comes through strongly while on stage. He knows how to bring you into personal worship with God and test your faith in the process. I also like how he is present after a concert so you can chat with him.

6. Mandisa

Mandisa is very inspiring and has charged ahead making her own path in Christian music. She launched into music after finishing ninth place on American Idol and has been outspoken about struggles in her own life. You can catch her on tour with TobyMac and Capital Kings throughout March and also at the Women of Joy Stronger 2015 Tour in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee on April 25th.

5. Matt Maher

Matt Maher is so genuine on stage. He doesn’t talk a ton, but he does deliver a powerful message when he does and will keep you laughing. Matt is talented in many ways, especially because he makes playing piano while singing look extremely easy – trust me, it’s not! You can see Matt in concert at many dates from now through August.

4. Jeremy Camp

As a recording artist for 12 years now, Jeremy Camp has more top hits than many Christian artists. His humble attitude and incredible personal story of faith comes across as he sings and is in his words, “a minister who happens to play music as a way to minister.” Be sure to catch one of the many remaining Winter Jam 2015 Tour dates through March to see Jeremy in concert.

3. Bluetree

Northern Irish Christian band Bluetree will encourage and leave you energized! Some of their hit songs include “God Of This City” and “My Redeemer Lives.” I won’t forget seeing lead singer Aaron Boyd jump out of an airplane during a downpour as he entered the stage at Big Ticket Festival in Gaylord, Michigan last summer. Bluetree is energizing and they sing with a purpose. Their tagline, “worship + music + justice”, explains how they are following their faith to give a voice to the less fortunate. This is evident through their music.

2. Sidewalk Prophets

It’s hard to turn on a Christian radio station and not hear at least one song by Sidewalk Prophets. “The Words I Would Say,” “You Love Me Anyway” and “Live Like That” are encouraging and challenge your faith at the same time. I’m excited to see them in concert when they come to Lansing, Michigan at the end of this month for the Great Big Family Tour. This tour lasts through April and tickets only cost $10.

1. Third Day

Third Day has been around since 1991, so you may have seen Mac Powell, Mark Lee and the rest of the band in concert before, but have you seen them in the last five years? They are continuing to write songs and release hits, especially with their new worship album, Lead Us Back releasing March 3rd. Third Day is touring all over the country through April. I enjoyed seeing them in concert last summer and was surprised at how people of all ages were jamming together singing old and new songs.

I’m really excited for a few upcoming Christian music festivals so I can checkout even more artists in one venue. I have also noticed that more Christian artists have started touring together. Who are you planning on seeing in concert over the next few months?

Article by Elise Cleary

I am a Christian writer and editor that lives in northern Michigan and thoroughly enjoy music, movies, TV shows, books and other entertainment with a Christian focus. My favorite song is "Oceans" by Hillsong United because it reminds me that has big plans for me and everyone else who puts their trust in Him. There are many movies that have impacted my life, but a few include God's Not Dead, The Shunning and Letters to God. When I'm not writing I enjoy watching movies and laughing with my busy toddler and husband.
