Favorite 5 Citizen Way Songs Of All Time

I had the chance to see Citizen Way a few months ago and loved how genuine they were. Two sets of brothers, Josh Calhoun, Ben Calhoun, David Blascoe and Ben Blascoe, make up the band and they were formerly known as The Least of These. Their first song, “Should’ve Been Me”, was released in 2012 and immediately skyrocketed to one of the top ten songs on Christian music charts. They released their first album, Love Is the Evidence, in 2013 and it peaked at position 22. Citizen Way’s songs are encouraging, uplifting and provide a great reminder of God’s love for each one of us.

Here are my favorite five Citizen Way songs of all time.

5. “Where Would I Be Without You”

This song is an amazing reminder of how God really does hold us up and take care of us. He has a plan for each one of us, but we have to surrender to Him in order to go where He is trying to lead us.

Favorite Lyrics

You promise hope for tomorrow
You meet my need for today
And when I stray from the narrow road
You lead me back in Your amazing grace
My fears distract from living
A good thing nothing’s afraid of your love

Where would I be without You?
Where would I be without You?
Where would I be without You?
(I would be nothing)
Where would I be without You?
Where would I be without You?
Where would I be without You?

4. “Should’ve Been Me”

This life can be hard, but Christ has overcome everything in this world and He will continue loving us no matter how much we think we mess up.

Favorite Lyrics

It should've been me
It should've been us
Should've been there hanging on a cross
All of this shame
All of these scars
Should've been stains that were never washed
Why do I hide
Why do you try
Over and over and over again
I guess it just leaves saying thank God
It leaves me saying thank God, thank God
For the should've been

3. “Nothing Ever (Could Separate Us)”

Do you realize that nothing, absolutely nothing can separate you from Christ? He is running after you and nothing can separate you from Him.

Favorite Lyrics

Nothing ever could separate us
Nothing ever could separate us
Nothing ever could separate us
Now

And when I can't see You still I know You're here
And when I can't feel You Your promise is clear
Nothing I face can keep me from Your love
My savior my healer my life and my hope
My treasure forever with You I belong
And even in death we won't be torn apart

2. “Evidence”

Do you think God only loves you for what you do? You have to earn His love? You feel inadequate? God loves you because He created you! This means He knows all of your strengths and weaknesses. He knows your mistakes and temptations. His love is surrounding you along with His mercy and grace.

Favorite Lyrics

I need hands that are open
Reaching out to broken hearts
Cuz' that's the only way this world
Will ever know who You are
Love is the evidence
Love is the evidence

Might be the pain that you share
Might be the time that you spend
Or the war you don't fight
Backing down from your pride
After all in the end

1. “How Sweet The Sound”

I love this song because it reminds me of “Amazing Grace”, but makes a deeper connection with how God’s grace works.

Favorite Lyrics

Amazing grace how sweet the sound
I hear You singing over me
I once was lost but now I'm found
And it's beautiful
Amazing grace how sweet the sound
It covers every part of me
My soul is silent
I am found
And it's a beautiful sound

You carry me through the waters
Where Your peace clears away all my sorrow
And nothing can separate us from Your love
Oh, Your love it will always be

The Calhoun and Blascoe brothers started playing together growing up in church. Did you perform in a church choir or band growing up? Keep working hard if God has called you to write songs, sing or play an instrument. Citizen Way is currently on Big Daddy Weave’s The Beautiful Offerings Tour performing all over the U.S. through May. The band is just getting started and I’m excited to hear their next songs as they continue to going up the Christian music charts.
