My 10 Favorite Underoath Songs Of All Time

Underoath has recorded 7 studio albums and has had lineup changes throughout the years.  Their older sound is nothing like their newer albums, but each album is amazing in its own way.  Here are my 10 favorite Underoath songs with some of my favorite lyrics for each.  Enjoy!

10. Spirit Of A Living God, Act Of Depression

This song starts out with a wonderful passionate plea for unbelievers to come to Christ!  It’s the only acoustic song on the album but it so good!

Favorite Lyric

“Spirit of, the living God fall fresh on me.  Lord melt me, Lord use me, Lord fill me, Lord mold me.  Lord, make me the person you want me to be Lord.  Lord take me, and mold my, my mind.”

9. The Impact Of Reason, They’re Only Chasing Safety

Favorite Lyric

“I'm not too sure that I want it to be this way, open mouth, closed eyes, no words are escaping.”

8. Alone In December, The Changing Of Times

Favorite Lyric

“What's faith if I can't believe it's everything?  A cure, but I make it a disease.  God take me because I hate me.”

7. Reinventing Your Exit, They’re Only Chasing Safety

Favorite Lyric

“You broke my heart again this time.  You're fading now, you crossed the line.  We all want to be somebody.  Right now we're just looking for the exit.  This is the way I would have done things: up against the wall, up against the wall.  You've got me up against your wall!”

6. Too Bright To See, Too Loud To Hear, Lost In The Sound Of Separation

Favorite Lyric

“Good God if Your song leaves our lips, if Your work leaves our hands, then we will be wanderers and vagabonds.  They will stare and say how empty we are, how the freedom we had turned us up as dead men.”

5. Writing On The Walls, Define The Great Line

Favorite Lyric

“I hope to God you come down.  I hope to God you feel this now.  I hope to God you come down.  I hope to…God.  I know there must be some way out of here and all of them will be waiting there.”

4. Desperate Times, Desperate Measures, Lost In The Sound Of Separation

Favorite Lyric

“Oh, God the noise!  It’s ringing in my ear.  It's so unclear (so unclear).  I hear them talking but can't make out the words.  Speak up.  Speak clear.  I hear them talking but can't make out the words.  Speak up.   Speak clear.  God, where have I been?  I'm a terrible company with zero apologies.  My God where have I been?  Where have I been?”

3. The Last, Cries Of The Past

This is the first song on the album and it’s so heavy!  It reminds me of old Mortification in certain parts!

Favorite Lyric

“Time is short and the hurt of death grows with every breath.  Here I am at the end.  This wall that blocked You out for so long opens wide and I begin to burn from the inside.  I'll never forget that night, the night Jesus Christ made the blackness white!”

2. A Divine Eradication, Disambiguation

Favorite Lyric

“Let me feel it rain down.  I cannot wait any longer.  Let’s get something straight.  I am not, I am not who you made me out to be!”

1. In Regards To Myself, Define The Great Line

This is my favorite song because the lyrics are so good.  It’s not too late for anyone to turn around and give their life to Jesus.  Here are the lyrics to the whole song!

Wake up! Wake up! My God!
This is not a test!
And it's not too late to come clean
Get it off your chest
So steady your hand before your face and concentrate
There's got to be some stable ground
Left to walk on

So tear another page from the book
Are you asleep or just alone?
Clear this room from your lungs

Pull yourself together
Pull yourself together, man
Pull yourself together
Pull yourself together

On your back, you're sleeping in a bed of shame
Let the light breathe some new life into this room
It's what keeps you coming back
Made up of insatiable taste
Bury your head in your hands
And sink into yourself

Oh!

Just what are you so afraid of?
What are you so afraid of?
You're staring truth in the face
So come on down
What are you so afraid of?

You're busy living now, aren't you?
You're busy making vows
You're coming unglued

Time is shorter than you know
I know the light is blinding to the naked eye
So why don't you take steps away from being alone?
I swear, it's not too late for you

It's all worth reaching for
It's all worth reaching for
It's all worth reaching for
The hand to pull you out
It's all worth reaching for
The hand to pull you out

Wake up!  Wake up!  Wake up!
And step outside your box
Wake up!  Wake Up!

Conclusion

These are my 10 favorite songs by Underoath.  They disbanded in 2013, but a reunion would be awesome!  God bless!
