Top 7 Anticipated Family Movies To Release In The Next Year

Many families enjoy seeing the latest films together and there are some great ones to look forward to this holiday season and through next year. You may have heard that Robin Williams was in Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, which is set to release around Christmas. Have you heard about the new Peanuts movie or Minions, the spinoff movie of Despicable Me? There will certainly be more movies added to the upcoming list over the next few months, but the movie outlook is promising, especially for families.

Here are the top seven anticipated family movies to release in the next year.

7. Kung Fu Panda 3

The next installment of Kung Fu Panda is coming December 23, 2015! Not a lot has been released about the plot of Kung Fu Panda 3 yet, but Po (voiced by Jack Black) continues his journey of being the Dragon Warrior. We do know that Angelina Jolie is voicing Tigress, Dustin Hoffman is voicing Master Shifu, Lucy Liu is voicing Viper, Jackie Chan is voicing Monkey and David Cross is voicing Crane.

6. Peanuts

The new Peanuts movie will be released November 2015 and mixes the classic Peanut characters with 3D effects!  Not a lot has been released about the plotline, but it is the fifth full-length movie and the last one came out 35 years ago. The movie is to commemorate the comic strip, which Charles M. Schulz began writing 65 years ago. Steve Martino is directing the film and Blue Sky Studios will produce it.

5. The Jungle Book: Origins in 3D

We can’t get enough of The Jungle Book story and Walt Disney Pictures is releasing the newest version of the film October 2015 in 3D. Scarlett Johansson is voicing Kaa, Bill Murray is voicing Baloo and Ben Kingsley is voicing Bagheera. Mowgli (voiced by Neel Sethi) is an orphan who was raised by a jungle animals and finally meets another human when he is grown. The Jungle Book: Origins alludes to the very beginning of when Mowgli lost his parents.

4. Minions

A spinoff of Despicable Me, Minions is another family-friendly film from Universal Pictures. Yellow minions live with the sole purpose of serving evil scoundrels. A brave minion, along with two other minions, leave their secluded home in Antarctica to find their new villain master. Scarlett Overkill (voiced by Sandra Bullock) wants to dominate the world. Gru is called to stop Scarlet Overkill and the minions! Watch Minions attempt to take over July 2015.

3. Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb

If your kids loved the first two Night at the Museum movies, they will enjoy Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb. Larry Daley (played by Ben Stiller) travels around the world to save the magic powers of The Tablet of Ahkmenrah. They go to ancient times so the characters in the museum do not die. This is the last film for both Mickey Rooney and one of the final movies with Robin Williams. Catch all the action with Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb on December 19, 2014.

2. Annie

When Annie first came out in 1982, no one could forget the curls of Anileen Quinn who played Annie. This modern version of the story is set in New York and Annie (played by Quvenzhane Wallis) is a young African-American girl who lives in foster care with Miss Hannigan (played by Cameron Diaz). Will Stacks (played by Jamie Foxx) is trying to become the next mayor and connects with Annie to boost his campaign. Look for Annie in theatres December 19, 2014.

1. Penguins of Madagascar

The next Madagascar movie will be released November 26, 2014 – just in time for Thanksgiving. The Penguins of Madagascar are on a mission with The North Wind, an undercover team to stop Dr. Octavius Brine. Penguines Private, Rico, Kowalski and Skipper were hatched to become spies. Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted was released in 2012 and Madagascar 4 is scheduled to come out in 2018, so there is more coming for fans.

Some of the release dates may change, but all of these movies will be making their way to the box office. There are many other great family movies coming out in 2015, including Max from Warner Brothers, Cinderella from Walt Disney Pictures, B.O.O.: Bureau of Otherworldly Operations from 20th Century Fox and DreamWorks Animation, Inside Out from Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios, and The Good Dinosaur from Walt Disney Pictures.
